I am submitting a formal complaint regarding the poor quality of work and unprofessional conduct I experienced with MCD Contracting Inc. during a $10,000 landscaping project completed at my home in late summer 2024. The work included redoing my front and back yards (removal of soil, new topsoil and sod installation), and cleaning, reorganizing, and treating the flower beds to prevent weeds. Before work began, *****, the company representative, assured me animals like skunks and squirrels would no longer be attracted to my property, as 8 inches of soil would be removed to eliminate grubs. He also advised me not to remove existing weeds, since his team would clear everything, install a membrane, and replant the flowers which, he claimed, would significantly reduce future weed growth. The sod looked fine after installation. I followed ****** watering instructions meticulously. Still, yellow patches appeared, and by May 2025, two-thirds of the lawn was dead. Hoping it would improve naturally, I waited until spring before raising concerns but the condition worsened. When I contacted *****, he first blamed me, then blamed animals contradicting his earlier promise. He refused to take responsibility and offered instead to fix the lawn for an extra $4,000, which I declined. He then shouted at me to do it NOW referring to covering patches with soil and reseeding. On May 11, he visited the property, questioned my photos, and eventually offered to send workers to aerate and reseed even though I had already done it. His team also applied fertilizer, which had already been paid for in the original ****** for the flower beds, ***** took no responsibility. He claimed the mess was due to windblown seeds, even though the disorganized growth came from the same plants I had before indicating the membrane was either poorly installed or ************** I paid $10,000 for a job that was not done properly. MCD Contracting refuses to stand by their work or correct it.

    Dear BBB,

Thank you for your continued collaboration on this file. I find it regrettable though not surprising that the service provider has still not responded. I encourage you to keep pressing and following up with them until they do. I have not had any recent communication from their side.

I am attaching photos of my brand new lawn, for which I paid $10,000 last year. This is what it looked like in April 2025, just one month after the snow melted. It was appalling. I personally removed the large yellow patches, spread black soil, and reseeded the area myself. This cost me approximately $500, not to mention my time and energy. This is simply unacceptable. A service provider committed to customer satisfaction would have replaced the dead patches with new sod, at their own expense.

Thank you again for your support and advocacy.
