I've had my roof done in november/december 2024, the fascia and soffit job is terrible, they came to "correct" it and did a job a 10 year old could have done better and now they won't answer me anymore. I can provide picture of the job and "correction" they judge satisfying.

In October I requested a full quote from Rydel Roofing to install their Wakefield Metal Roofing to my home. Three hours into the job; when my roofing had been completely removed I was contacted by a **** who told me I owed $6000. to pay for more than 42 sheets of 3/8" plywood, since they deemed my tongue and groove unable to provide a proper base for their metal roofing. There was no such possibility mentioned in the quote I signed. I agreed (after much negotiation) to pay for the plywood, and tax, plus a reasonable amount for installation ($2500. tax incl.) After the latest storm my deck was thirty inches deep and I kept hearing loud crashes as the ice fell on my deck. One of the men who clear my front and back walkways were struck by falling ice. When I contacted Rydel Roofing their response was to offer a quote to install ice dams as per code.If this is code...why were the dams not initially added to my quote as well as the "required for their roofing product" plywood underlay? They were told at the start that it was a 75 year old home; and had tongue and groove board under the roofing. Since they were aware they required plywood to replace the tongue and groove; and the ice dams were required for the install to be "up to code" (their words) why were these costs not included in my original quote? After the first attempt to extort me, I told them I thought it very bad practice to make additions to an agreed upon price, and if they changed that practice I would not publish detrimental reviews. Obviously they decided not to include the required protective ice *******-planning to recoup the difference for their outrageous plywood charge when I discover the dams missing. I am 69 with four crushed lumbar vertebrae so could not climb on the roof to check they were installed. I trusted the work would be completed properly.I want the ice guards installed to protect my 26 foot long deck, and my front walk and entrance (another 30 feet).

      Dear *****,

We appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns, and we want to clarify our position regarding the work completed on your home.
First, we want to reiterate that all work was completed according to professional standards, building code requirements, and the signed agreement you approved. As outlined in our contract, snow guards and ice dams were not included in your initial quote. These are optional additions that some homeowners choose based on their specific needs and property layout. If you would like them installed now, we are happy to do so for the specified price you received.

Regarding the plywood underlay, this was an unforeseen structural requirement discovered once the existing roofing was removed. As we discussed at the time, your original tongue and groove decking did not meet the necessary substrate requirements for metal roofing installation. While we always aim to anticipate potential additional costs, structural issues cannot always be fully assessed until work is underway. The additional plywood was necessary to ensure the integrity and longevity of your new roof, and you agreed to this adjustment before the work continued.

We also want to address your claims of "extortion" and "bad practice." We provided a detailed contract, communicated transparently about necessary changes, and even extended a significant discount as a goodwill gesture. Additionally, we had a verbal agreement that no defamatory comments would be posted online. Despite this, your statements misrepresent the facts of the project and contain misleading claims about our business practices.

While we value our customers and strive to provide the best service, we will not tolerate false or damaging accusations. We have fulfilled our contractual obligations in full. If you require additional services, such as snow guards, we are happy to provide a quote and enter a new agreement for additional services rendered.

Please let us know how youd like to proceed regarding the snow guards.

      Best Regards,

Have pictures. The company Rydel Roofing put on defective shingles and they didnt inspected after they were done. Why were they put on in the first place but they had to come back after completing the roof. Brand new roof should not require a patch job multiple spots its Even stated on the bill that I requested them to document it, they did not fix the ones that did not lineup properly. I was told because the house was not square plus there are spots where the sand a stone and the shingles is not really there and the tar is First coming through. They didnt say about that they wouldnt do anything about it. 20 year warranty I dont think so. Cant get them to put it on right the first time.I tried putting pic wont Allow me too

      To whom it may concern,

The roof at ****************** was installed in July-August of this year using IKO Cambridge shingles. After the installation was completed, we discovered that 2 out of the 40 bundles had a defect. Upon identifying this defect, Rydel took full responsibility and covered the cost of replacing all defective materials. The customer expressed satisfaction with our teams response. After one day, however, a single shingle was found to have been missed. In response, Rydel promptly dispatched our team to the property a second time to replace the missed shingle. During this visit, we conducted a thorough inspection of the entire roof, confirming that both the workmanship and material quality met our standards. As a gesture for the inconvenience, we offered the customer a $250 discount, which led to the customer issuing a full and final payment. A few days following receipt of the final payment, the customer reached out again with concerns about the roof. We are willing to revisit the property a third time to conduct another inspection, ensuring that everything remains in top condition. The client is covered under both our workmanship warranty and the manufacturers warranty, entitling them to request such an inspection if they remain uncertain or dissatisfied. Based on our data and inspections, we believe the roof is 100% completed to our standards, and we do not see any defective products currently on the roof.

Rydel re-shingled my neighbours roof. After the professional looking Rydell employee left in his new vehicle an old beat up oil leaking half ton truck showed up and a couple of shady characters got out to start the job.Two days later I went out back to discover that they had taken off all my Cedar siding on the side of my dormer..As I was talking to these roofers a Rydel employee standing there listening to the conversation. I got a business card from the roofer ( which was not Rydel Roofing ) Rydel employee approached me with his business card. Later on that he shows up and makes the roofers put on Rydell t shirtslol A day later they started taking the shingles off the front of the roof and I advise them to stay on the property linethey did not and encroached on my roof. . I called ************************* of Rydel and he will try to find shingles that match. I told the on site roofers that this was unacceptable and they told me that *** told them they would have to pay to fix the issue as they were sub contractors. The job wrapped up I went out back to see if the siding was back on my dormer..they replaced the cedar siding they damaged with Pine?.I called *** again, I expressed my concerns about the front roof and the pine siding..He said they would replace the pine with cedar and they were unwilling to do anything with the mismatched front.I called *** after two weeks to see when my cedar is getting replaced and he told me they are busy and will get it done, I called again the following week and *** said he cant find wood siding that colour.I said you can buy Cedar at ***** **** or Home Depot..you stain it gray and it ages over timehe reply was Oh..that explains it..Another two weeks go by and I after numerous unanswered calls I emailed to see whats going on..he said after speaking with my supervisor the siding replacement we already done to your house will unfortunately be the extent of work we are willing to do..they Lied to me on several occasions!

We are terribly sorry to hear this complaint from ***. Our clients property line and his are connected as they are townhouses. We did in fact need to remove ***'s siding in order to properly flash our clients roof meeting his wall. Due to ***'s siding being old and brittle, this was challenging to do without damaging a portion of the siding. After discussing this with *** we have settled on replacing all the siding in this section to achieve the desired uniformity that was originally present.
