I was represented by Models International Management 2013-2020 (and previously ~1988-1994 under different ownership). The company had my modelling portfolio in their possession (standard procedure). When I made contact with them in Sept 2023, they told me an email had been sent requesting that models pick up their portfolios by Oct 30, 2019 in advance of a relocation, or the portfolios would be placed in storage. I did not receive the email and was unaware of the move. Covid-19 hit in 2020, during which time I called and emailed the agency to arrange to pick up my portfolio but didn't receive any responses. I attempted to contact them as ***** was subsiding via their email form, but didn't get a reply. I tried emailing in March 2023 and received a response to go in to the agency during business hours. I asked if they could have my portfolio ready for pick-up on my way to work but didn't receive a response; (I was concerned about delaying my arrival at work). In September 2023, I noticed the agency had relocated again. I decided to drop-in to see if I could quickly obtain my portfolio. They didn't have it. I gathered the owner's email and corresponded with her; found out all portfolios that were not picked up in 2019 were put in her home - unfinished basement; suffered mold damage, and were tossed (without informing anyone). I asked that she compensate me for the destruction of my personal property in her care. She refused and suggested I could re-print the digital photos at my expense. Some of my photos in my portfolio are no longer available in digital format and therefore, are irreplaceable. The value of my portfolio is approx. $1200 CAD (cost of the book plus 8X10 photos). The agency had arranged costly photoshoots and payments to the photographers for prints which I fully paid for. I experienced other frustrations with the agency over the years, but this was the most disappointing and biggest loss. Nice people, unethical business practices, be warned.
