    Date of Transaction - December 1, 2023 Amount paid $649.70 Canadian *********************************************** Service committed to deliver clean carpets and pick up dirty carpets bi-weekly from November - April (seasonal)The nature of the dispute is when signing the contract the owner was not advised of what he was signing, it was expected for worker at the time to explain that he was signing for a 3 year contract. Now the service is no longer required and in order to terminate contract he would have to pay 50% of time remaining for a total of $952.50 plus tax.We have explained to the company that we're not happy with the service and would like to terminate contract without penalty. Company has advised that their hands are tied and if we do not pay the 50% they will send the account to collections.

    Good Morning;

    I have reviewed this situation.  Our standard term is for 5 years as we make the upfront investment of purchasing product in order to provide the service to our customers.  Since the term here is 3 years, it would seem to me that the term was discussed at the time it was signed.  I do not have any record of service complaints from this customer that were not addressed within a timely manner.  Should there be any additional information that I'm not privy to I would be happy to review that, but from my perspective we have followed the agreement that was signed.

    Dear Better Business Bureau,I am writing to file a formal complaint against Canadian Linen towel services regarding their business practices and treatment towards our barbershop.For the past five years, we have been utilizing Canadian Linen's towel services. However, upon careful evaluation and due to financial constraints, we decided not to renew our contract. Not only were we spending a significant amount each monthapproximately $800but we also encountered numerous issues with the quality of the towels, including receiving dirty towels and being consistently shorted on our order.Upon informing Canadian Linen of our decision not to renew, they attempted to entice us with a meager 5% discount and two free weeks of towels. However, based on our past experiences, we declined their offer. Subsequently, they sent a representative to our shop who resorted to intimidation tactics, threatening to bill us for the entire five-year contract if we did not agree to renew.We were never informed of any such clause requiring a two-month written notice for cancellation, and we feel unjustly pressured into signing another long-term contract that we do not require.This behavior from Canadian Linen is unacceptable and constitutes bullying tactics towards a small business like ours. We seek resolution and request that the Better Business Bureau investigate this matter promptly.

    We are sorry to hear of this complaint's experience.  Our Standard Rental Service Agreements are for 5 years and will auto renew for a like term.  All terms are clearly outlined on the rental agreements in articles 1 & 2.  Article 5 is a performance clause that outlines how to cancel service if there are service failures.  I'm uncertain of the specifics of this occurrence, but if the terms of the agreement were not met then the customer would be subject to article 9.

    I am rejecting this response because: We have been locked into a contract for 5 years with this terrible company and gave them a 30 day notice to end our contract. **** well knowing how hard it has been for small businesses they tell us its going to cost 26+ thousand dollars to cancel our towel service!! This is unethical and straight up taking advantage of small businesses.

    We would like them to understand that we obviously cant pay $26000+ to cancel this contract even though we gave them 30 days notice. And they are trying force us into another 5 year contract which is not needed or cant be afforded by our business. We are in the position as a business that we have to take towels home and wash them our selves not pay $26380.31 to cancel a contract!!

    Sincerely,
