You are misleading with your kit, the Neutral Zone Afghan. You claim that the kit is machine washable and dryable on the Canadian site. This is not true. The alpaca yarn is hand washable only and to be laid flat to dry according to the ball band. Also, you do NOT state that the second yarn is 100% acrylic!!!!!!!!!!! One is led to believe that both yarns are the same when in fact they are totally not. This kit has been sold under false pretenses and everyone who bought it should be refunded because of that issue.
When you substitute one yarn for another there should be at maximum 20 yds different from them. The Best Value has 342 yards per 170 yds and is more of a dk weight while the Natural Alpaca is 262 yds per 100 grams. If we convert the Best Value yarn into 100 grams its yardage is 201 yds – a massive difference of 61 yds. They are not compatible yarns at all.
I contacted them and actually had to go through the American site to actually get a Canadian representative to answer me. Then *** ************ ****** ** *** Lesley Boyd told me that the yarn was machine washable and dryer friendly, reading of course from their incorrect website. All she had to do was grab a skein of the yarn herself and see that the label said it had to dried flat and hand washed. But would she do it? Nope. Finally I went back to the Americans and told them all of the above.
Admitting that your company was at fault would have been a good thing.
As it stands right now, I have a bad taste in my mouth for the way Lesley on behalf of Mary Maxim handled all of this *** ** **** ** *** **** ******* ******** ***** * **** ***** * *** ** **** **** *** it is kind of telling me to look elsewhere for a company that actually listens when you say there is something wrong.

Our website clearly states that this particular kit is made with 2 different yarns. Yes, one yarn says to hand wash and lay flat to dry, but Leslie informed her that it is machine washable on a gentle cycle and machine dryable on low heat. As for the yardage, there are numerous reasons that they can vary so much. One of them being the dye or amount of dye that is used as Leslie advised her. We are not sure what or where the information of a maximum 20 yard difference as that has no bearing on the kit. We provide more than enough yarn to complete the project. Leslie provided a return label for the customer so that she could return it at no cost to her outside of our 3 month return policy. As well, we do not provide a label when there is nothing wrong with the product. The kit in question was put together using the yarns that the designer used to create it. When ******** returned the item, at our cost, it was missing 2 balls of yarn. This is why her refund did not reflect the full amount.

**** ******* ******* ***** Saying the kit is washer and dryer friendly. How can Leslie be an expert when she didn't even read the ball band of the alpaca when I asked her to and it clearly stated that the yarn was hand wash and dry flat. Leslie has been nothing but belligerent and petty through this whole ordeal. She obviously never believed in being kind and was very nasty the whole time arguing over nothing instead of making a return customer happy. She handled the whole incident very very poorly!
A normal business refunds the money and doesn't fight with clients especially ones who spend a lot of money with them.
I did return the yarn and of course it was short two skeins because I tried my best to work with them and had to put the yarn into small *****. They have been put in the garbage. A normal company would not be petty and take off two skeins of yarn over a kit that is so wrongly labeled, would they? A decent yarn company wouldn't but I guess this one is turning into a junk one. So much for customer service.
