Initial contact made in Feb 2024 listing several home maintenance items to be completed and the need to assess reason of localized ice damming / heat loss in roof We reconnected in early Sept 2024 and agreed to have an onsite assessment and repair of some external issues - we forwarded $4,500 via Interac as an advance for that work. The owner made a preliminary site visit to discuss details After providing several photos illustrating some issues, Lakeview arrived with the owner and two workers on Oct 24. They removed soffits in two areas - one in an area of known heat loss and one non problematic area. Removal of the soffits caused damage/breakage. They extracted samples of the spray foam insulation and determined that there was no ventilation despite being informed that was as specified in the home plans for a "hot roof" in these areas. Their recommendation was to essentially convert the hot roof to a ventilated roof at an estimated cost $50,000, if all went well. Lakeview seemed intent that the "answer" was ventilation despite the plans specifying a hot roof. Also, they ignored the localized nature of the heat loss putting a general roof makeover highly questionable / unnecessary. In late Nov, after clearly indicating our lack of hardware for reattaching the usable soffit, two people arrived to without clear instructions, appropriate equipment or hardware. After waiting more than a month, we signaled our intent to sever any ongoing business relationship. After numerous requests we finally received an invoice on April 23. This came after our request for the return of some of the funds previously sent to them. This invoice includes highly inflated labor charges for the Oct 24 and Nov 27 visits. Also included were labor charges for October 21 when no one was here. No roof repairs were done.
