** ** ************ ******** these converters were bad from day one of using them. This company is ******* ** ********* ** offering a supposed durable product at a great price; unfortunately, its products are cheaply made. I can not use its 5 year warranty because I modified the "direct fit" parts so they would fit my vehicle.
I bought a set of catalytic converters from this company to use in my SUV. I am a certified mechanic with over 25 years experience. Last year, I rebuilt the engine; I tried to install these catalytic converters, and I was met with a challenge despite them being a "direct fit" item. The seams of the converter heat shields were raised which interfered with allowing space for both the front and rear unit to be installed at the same time. I had to tap the seams flat with a hammer to create the necessary room so the bolt holes would line up and the exhaust manifolds would sit flat on the cylinder head. Afterwards, I was able to install the converters and the flanges bolted up to the factory exhaust.
Immediately after the engine install and starting, I noticed that the exhaust had an unusual smell. I thought that may be it was normal and would subside in a week. The smell did not go away however and the SES light came on. The fault stored was for the Catalyst specifically. As a side note all my oxygen sensors were replaced during the rebuild. I tried to rectify the issue by changing the octane of my fuel and even used Ethanol free fuel which did not solve the issue. I decided to drive the vehicle and put some miles on it to see if the fault would clear out on its own. After a year of driving. the SES light remains on for the fault and the weird smell out of the tail pipes has become overpowering. Also, recently in the last week a tapping noise has formed in the exhaust manifold area. It almost sounds like one of the catalytic converter pipes has formed a crack which is allowing exhaust noises / pressure to pass through.

The products sold are of poor quality as they do not last a full year. First Choice Exhausts offers a five years warranty which is not respected despite several attempts to contact them and requests to apply it. **** ** * ******* ** ***** ** *** ****** ****** *******
