    The approximate dates were June and July of 2021. I contracted with a literary agency (now I see referred to as a ******* ******) to republish, place, and promote a children's book I created in 2018. I signed a contract to pay $3500 to have 1000 copies of the book pressed and distributed to independent bookstores. I was told that the first check never arrived, so I sent a second check some weeks later. I did not think to stop payment on the first check. The second check also stipulated $3500 for 1000 copies. Some weeks later I was informed that the first check had been recovered and accidentally deposited. I was initially assured that I would get the money back. A few weeks passed, and I was told that the amount could not be refunded and the additional amount would be used to pay for additional copies. I learned later from the bank that the first check I sent had indeed been deposited first, so they lied about the order of receiving and depositing the checks. Later, when I asked if I could see one printed copy of the book before it went to general press, I was told that could be arranged. Later they just pressed the book without sending me the review copy. No surprise, their published version had multiple imperfections like paper quality, alignment of printing on the cover, and "cut lines" on the pages. My attempts to have this corrected have been stonewalled.
    The total I have paid is $7000, and they have made no attempts to move forward with plans for distribution and promotion, contact me, or respond to my inquiries. The company's name is Adventure Time Narratives, *** *** ******* *** **** ** * ****** ******** ********** ******** ******
