I rented 2 cottages at Sunny Acres Resort & Marina August 12 - 19. The cottages were booked directly with the business and not through Airbnb, which they also rent through. The cottages are not "as advertised" on the website. The amenities that are listed do not exist, and the property is in terrible condition. The front of the property is lined with garbage and "stuff" piled up all over the place. We booked in February, and got a 5% discount for booking 2 cottages, paid a deposit of $608 for each cottage. We wanted to split the final payment between 2 families, so we did not pay for the rest of the rental fees until the staff had an opportunity to speak with the owner to see how to divide the bill. Upon getting to our cottages, we had numerous issues including no hot water, one family had to move on day 2 because the water heater could not be fixed, while the other cottage was "fixed" for a few hours, but had no hot water for more than a few minutes. We also had no water at all on 2 different occasions due to a water pump problem. The grounds were filthy, with broken plastic lawn chairs floating in the water near the shore. Some cottages had notices posted to not drink the water, but our cottages had no warnings. We did not use the water for drinking or cooking as a precaution. The lake water looked very murky but there were no signs posted about not going into the water due to bacteria. Not sure if the water is tested or not. After our move to a different cottage the fridge wasn't working, as there was an air conditioning unit and the fridge (both 3 prong plugs) going into the same receptacle and as a result the fridge connection wasn't fully plugged in so the fridge stopped working. We were brought an extension cord and a bag of ice. The extension cord did fix the issue, but perhaps not the safest fix. None of the services advertised on the website were actually happening - no recycling pick up, no store or games room available. We didn't pay.
