I bought a 2018 Jeep Grande Cherokee, from Mckeown auto sales in November of 2023 in good faith. I was a first time car buyer, they knew this. In February of 2024 I brought the Jeep back to the dealership because there was a hesitation in the motor and it was making a strange sound when I started it.The dealership said they serviced it had it on the diagnostic machine, and told me everything was in perfect running order. I had likely heard a squirrel under the hood. I didn't really agree because it was happening every time I started the vehicle, or gave it gas there was hesitation, but, I was a first time buyer and put my faith in the dealership.2 weeks ago my check engine light came on and the engine blew. I had it towed to a mechanic who advised the engine had been worked on previously. He took pictures to.prove this. He stated that he was confident the dealership was aware of this having issues and that they would have seen that if they put it on the diagnostic machine. He thought we could fix the issue by replacing certain parts on the engine, but to no avail. When I had originally approached the business, the offered me $400 for the repair. Which I did NOT accept. When I found out the engine needed replacing, my partner requested the maintenance record of the vehicle. It had been worked on 4 times for this exact issue, since 2019 at the dealership. Non of this information wqs disclosed to me when I bought it. Which did not allow me to make an informed decision. Had I of known the vehicle had been worked on 4 times for the same issue, I would have bought something else. When approached again, the dealership simply stated "I should have done my due diligence and looked up the car facts"And maybe I should have. But I'm a first-time buyer, I was alone and I feel like they took advantage of my kind nature ESPECIALLY since I went back with it for this exact reason 2 months after buying it. I feel helping me cover 75% of the cost of the repairs is fair

    Business Response

As owner of the business I extend my apologies to **************** for how she was treated. I have spoken to her directly and I believe we have reached a resolution. I feel this is a good vehicle for her and have offered to cover 100% of the repair expenses, parts and labour, if she has it repaired at a Chrysler dealership. Alternately, if she chooses to have it repaired by a non-Chrysler dealer I will cover 75% of the repair. Note that she is a significant distance away from us so it is not feasible for us to complete the repairs at our facility.
