      Date: 11/07/2025

On July 10, 2025, the customer brought her 2018 ***** CR-V ***** AWD) to a Victory Lube location for an ********** and Filter change. At the time of service, the odometer reading was ****** kilometers. According to available CARFAX maintenance records, the vehicle's previous oil change occurred at ****** kilometers in November 2024indicating an extended interval of approximately ****** kilometers since the last service. The oil and filter were replaced in accordance with manufacturer-recommended procedures. Upon starting the vehicle following the service, the technician found that it was not idling normally. As a precaution, the oil and filter were replaced a second time at no charge to the customer. Despite this, the engines performance did not ********** assist the customer, a basic diagnostic scan was performed using a handheld code reader. The only code retrieved was P0341, Camshaft Position Sensor A - Bank 1 - Range/Performance. This code was stored in three forms: Pending, Historic, and Permanent. No other diagnostic codes were present.According to ****** published documentation, a Pending code is recorded when a fault is detected during the first drive cycle. If the fault persists during the next drive cycle, it is escalated to a Permanent DTC, and freeze frame data is stored. A Historic code, by definition, refers to a condition that has existed for some timewell beyond the short duration the vehicle was in our care. Additionally, Permanent codes remain stored until specific drive cycle criteria are met and the fault is no longer detected. Taken together, the presence of these three code states strongly suggests the condition existed prior to ********** is important to clarify that Victory Lube did not perform any work on, near or to the vehicles camshaft timing system, variable valve timing components, or engine management wiring. The service provided was limited exclusively to an engine oil and filter change with a washer fluid top-up. The technician also noted evidence of rodent activity, including a nest located near wiring for the affected sensor, and advised the customer accordingly. The camshaft position sensor system is part of the vehicles timing and engine management system. It plays a role in regulating valve timing and engine performance. How such a system failure could result directly from the act of draining and refilling engine oil is unclear to us. We are unaware of any service bulletins or manufacturer guidance linking engine oil changes to the occurrence of DTC P0341 or related timing system malfunctions. Based on all available information, there appears to be no direct correlation between the oil change performed and the fault the vehicle exhibited.During the visit, the customer became verbally aggressive toward staff, using profanity and making disparaging remarks. A third party, identified by the customer as a mechanic, was contacted by phone and also directed verbal insults toward one of our employees. The customer demanded a rental vehicle at our expense. This request was denied, as we are neither obligated nor equipped to provide rental transportation, particularly in the absence of a service-related fault. After store hours, the customer informed staff that she would utilize her roadside assistance coverage to tow the vehicle to a ***** dealership, which had been recommended earlier by the technician. Before leaving, she offered an apology to our staff and the communication that took place at that time indicated the matter was *********** for the cost of service: We originally did offer her a discount on the service as a consideration for her misfortune, The customer declined to pay altogether. In light of the circumstances and to prevent the situation from escalating further, the Assistant Manager made the decision to allow the customer to leave without collecting payment. This decision was made strictly to defuse the immediate situation and should not be interpreted as an admission of wrongdoing or ************ date, Victory Lube has not received payment for either of the two oil change services performed. The customer has not contacted us further since departing the location and has made no attempt to resolve the matter directly.Victory Lube remains committed to transparent and professional service. The above information is offered solely to clarify the sequence of events and provide context around the nature of the vehicles condition, the service rendered, and the interaction that followed.
