I had **** from PJ's Small Engine Repairs visit my home on April 24, 2022 to perform a tune-up on my 2 snowblowers. He fixed one snowblower completely but was missing a part required for driving the second snowblower. That piece was a disc with a rubber gasket around the outside that engaged the driving wheels. The rubber had worn off and he did not have a replacement, so he would have to order it. I paid a premium of $75 for him to come to my home, but he said the return trip to replace the part would only cost me the value of the part. His total that day was $294. I gave him $300 cash (no receipt) and said the remaining $6 could just come off the replacement part, which he estimated to be around $40 - $50. I followed up with him on May 4th to find out if the part was in and he said that he expected a shipment the next day. I have been following up with him regularly since that date via text message and phone. He almost never replies except for once on August 28th when he said that he would be booking his snowblower repairs later that week and would call me back (which he did not). On December 20, 2022, I managed to get him on the phone (from a different phone number) and he said that he could come out on December 28th. I followed up on Dec 22nd and Dec 26th to see what time he would be coming and I finally received a text message - purportedly from his wife - on Dec 27th that he was in the hospital for pneumonia and would be in contact when he got out. I have tried twice since then to contact him without any success. My last message to him was that I would just like him to refund me $150 for the incomplete work. If he does that, I'll walk away and find someone else to finish the job. I can provide copies of the entire text chain going back to his original visit, if required.
