      I am asking for help for my mother who has been scammed by a contractor from Emerald Paving located at **** ******* ** *** ***** *** *** of 10 000 Canadian Dollars here in Sudbury Ontario. On July 17 2023 **** **** *** **** ********* ** *** ******. My mother was working in her garden when a driver in a pickup stopped and explained that his company was doing driveways in the area and that he could remove the old driveway section that was damaged and resurface the rest for the original price of 16 000, but it was to much for her and they agreed on a price of 8 000 which was bumped up to 10 000 when he said he needed extra cost to do the work. On the following Monday he came with a few Mexican workers and a dump truck driver, and themselves two Irish "bosses" who were overseeing the work. The started to remove the old driveway but did not remove the old ash fault but just put it in a pile on the side. After about an hour of work one of the bosses asked for 600 for sand needed for the driveway, and so my mom paid it. Half hour to an hour later a different "boss" came and asked for the full amount because they needed to buy supplies and to secure the work. My mom was hesitant at first, but he was very forward that they were an established company, and he would give her a business card and come by with a invoice contract for the work. She eventually paid him the remaining money of 10 000 and pleaded with him to please don't scam me and that she is trusting him with her life savings. He looked her in the face and said he understood and that he will not do that. An hour later the guys started to leave, and my mom asked one of the bosses what was going on, he said oh they have to go finish another job but he would leave 2-3 guys to continue the work, which they did not they just stood around doing nothing. As the day went on nothing was done and nobody returned and late in the afternoon a pickup came, and the remaining workers got in and disappeared.
