    Last summer I engaged with iTac Systems (owner Jay M.) to look at upgrading the sound system in my home. As part of the upgrade he recommended that I purchase a ********* system. He quoted me $1499 for the system which I was not prepared to spend at the time so he offered an alternative of purchasing his personal used ********* system for $700 as he was planning to upgrade. I purchased this in good faith from him. Since the purchase it broke down in the fall and he came in and got it going again by banging on the unit (not a good sign of how to repair the unit). It worked for a few months, I went away for the winter and came back in May to the system not working again. I tried contacting him starting on May 17 until June 14. He said he would drop in several times (May 22, May 26, June 9 and 11th) and no show or notification. This is the second time that the unit has broken down in less than a year and with no service from Jay I contacted ********* directly. They said it was a failed hard drive issue. They recommended instead of investing another $350USD to replace the hard drive on an old system that I could get a new unit for $685USD (Big difference from $1499 Cdn Jay quoted. If that was what Jay quoted me I would not have gone for his used unit obviously). Bottom line is that I feel I have been sold a lemon and he is walking away from having anything to do with the unit. Basically it is my problem I purchased his used unit with no warranty. I wanted to log this situation with BBB so that any future customers are aware of this situation so that they may make an informed decision before dealing with iTac and Jay M. This situation is very unfortunate as my initial intention was to support a local business and this is what I get in return.
