We hired AGM Renovations for a full basement renovation at **** ******* ********* ********, and have paid a total of $112,999.00 CAD for the project. Despite being under warranty and submitting multiple requests, several issues remain unresolved:
1. Exterior door threshold is misaligned and broken, allowing insects and drafts into the home.
2. Rust on door hinges has returned despite previous cleaning—other metal fixtures are unaffected, indicating poor-quality materials.
3. Large, unsealed hole under the bathroom sink, posing risks for pests and water damage.
4. Cracks and gaps near the mezzanine and baseboards—reported before but not properly addressed.
5. Exterior stairs are deteriorating beneath worn paint, with no structural fix offered.
6. Our appliance was scratched by AGM staff, with no compensation or repair solution provided.
We emailed a detailed list of these concerns with photos in October 2024 and were told they would be fixed. However, AGM failed to follow up, and no repairs were scheduled.
AGM’s legal representative later contacted us, threatening to void our warranty and sue for defamation over a negative review. This intimidation tactic was used despite the outstanding deficiencies.
We request that:
• AGM complete the repairs outlined above at no additional cost.
• A timeline for these repairs be provided before any final payments or resolutions.
We are filing this complaint with the BBB to seek assistance in resolving this matter fairly and without further delay.Initial Complaint

The issue is the flooring work for a basement renovation completed in October 2022 with a five year warranty. The flooring is lifting in several sections. I filled out their online warranty form on June 06, 2024. A representative from AGM came to our house in June 2024 and repaired the lifting sections and repaired the cold room door, but said, the flooring would lift again as the entire flooring needs to be lifted and redone and he would advise AGM of that. The flooring lifted again and I have made several attempts to have AGM redo the basement floor without success. This is another instance of the significant challenge we have had during the execution of the contract to finish this basement.Initial Complaint

I signed up to have my bathroom renovated with Nicolle at agm on Dec 9th. I signed the don't pay for a year promo they were running at the time. She said she would have someone contact me for choosing fixtures, colors and finalizing the start date of Dec 23rd. On Dec 18th Jasdeep came by and went through all the selections for the bathroom and said it looked like everything was set for the 23rd. On Friday Dec 20 I received a call from the Agm finance department asking me how I was going to finance the project and when I could make the first payment. I explained that I was on the don't pay for a year promo. He said no you actually were not approved for that so you now have to finance the project. I explained to him I do not currently have the funds to pay for the project and that he may want to look into it further because I had already had the designer come and help me choose all the fixtures etc. I tried getting hold of Nicolle and Jasdeep but was unable to. I sent an email to Nicolle stating that I do not want someone coming to start the project on the 23rd until this is resolved or I will need to cancel the project. I got an email response saying the project has been cancelled that is it. No phone call. No discussion about what happened. No discussion of a possible resolution. On Jan 3rd i received an email from Michelle ***** it was a cancellation invoice for 5,179.28. I sent a reply to have the owner or a manager calll me as soon as possible. I had no response. I lcalled and left messages but none of which were ever returned. I finally called lyndsie project consultant and CEM. I was able to get through to her and explained everything I had experienced. She said "that should never have happened I will look into it and get back to you. I still have not received a response.
Why did I try agm? I had them do a basement reno for me for 75000 in 2016. They did a phenomenal job! I expected the same this time but this has been a horrible experience!Initial Complaint

AGM was hired to complete three bathrooms in my home.
I would appreciate any support possible in understanding how they arrived at a 50k basement bathroom that was built off of what they now claim are pipes on exterior wall that are freezing - with no reponsibility taken by Agm. Agm was asked to return when they forgot to install a heating vent in bathroom after saying it was never discussed. They were called back to add access to a shut off valve for plumbing which they built over by accident despite instruction to create a panel above shower. Now they claim they are not at fault when I have no water to vanity and toilet they have installed. Project began in June 2024. At no point between June and December did agm advise that pipes would be problematic to point of freezing. At no point was relocation or reconfiguration advice offered. Why did they build this way and take 50k from a small family?Business Response

Dear ********, thank you
for sharing your feedback. We regret to hear about the issues you've
encountered with your bathroom renovations. AGM Renovations took over your
project after the previous contractor abandoned it, with the project left at
the drywall stage. Our scope of work did not include new rough-in piping for
the vanity and toilet, nor did it cover opening exterior walls where these
rough-ins were located. However, we did rectify the heating vent and address
the buried shut-off valve to ensure the space was functional and up to
standard. We understand your frustration, but we would like to clarify that AGM
is honoring the full 5-year warranty for anything that we built, as per our
commitment to our clients. If you would like AGM to complete the repair on the
vanity and toilet pipes, we would be more than happy to provide a quote and
discuss next steps. We remain dedicated to delivering high-quality service and
providing solutions for any issues our clients experience. Thank you for
bringing these concerns to our attention.Sincerely, The AGM Renovations Team

We had our basement completed under great difficulty and duress with this company after several months of delay. A BBB complaint was already filed back then and is still on your website.
Immediately after the first year, we started noticing gaps in the basement floors. Gradually, it started peeling off entirely. We checked with independent contractors for advice and got to know that there was ZERO levelling done on the floor because of which the baseboards are tearing off.
We asked them to take a look at it as we are still under the 5 year warranty. But, they are refusing to fix the problem as we had apparently ticked a clause "that allows them to skip levelling the floor". We were shocked to hear this. This sounds like a fraudulent practice for such a thing to be even allowed under the Ontario building code.Business Response

Hi ******** *********
We’re sorry to hear that you’re experiencing issues with
your basement flooring. We understand how frustrating this must be. After
reviewing our records, we see that a disclaimer was signed acknowledging that
floor leveling would not be included in the scope of work. Because of this, we
must abide by the agreed-upon scope and are unable to cover this issue under
warranty.
We always strive for transparency in our project planning,
and we apologize if there was any misunderstanding regarding this aspect of
your renovation – AGM Renovations
