August 22, 2023 Dear Sirs or Madams, I am writing this letter to report a complaint I have with a business in Battleford, Saskatchewan Llubica Fa-Hardi Drafting & Drawing 10 Howe Court Battleford, Sk. S0M 0E0 306-480-1636 [email protected] I hired this business to build me a 17’ X 22’ addition onto my house. I will do my best to make this easy to read, but please contact me for any questions you may have. The Drafter appeared trustworthy and kind. During conversation and taking measurements with the Drafter, I advised her the addition had to be at least two meters away from the property line. She did not agree and would not listen to my request, but stated the property line is “grand-fathered” in with the town. Construction of the building began in August 2022. The footings were poured in conjunction with the Drafter’s plans. When the building Inspector came, he rejected the measurements. He said the footings need to be at least two meters away from the property line. That meant another pour of cement with extra digging and new footings placed. ($1700 plus.) Roof: The blue prints the Drafter prepared showed the wrong measurements for the trusses with the main part of the house. The Trusses had to be changed. The Drafter redesigned the roof and charged my contractor $678.18. The trusses were ordered costing ($3707.18). When the time came to build the roof, my Contractor discovered the trusses were out of line at least 10 inches and could not be used. The Contractor had to make the trusses from scratch with new material. (More cost) There was a domino effect from the first mistake, finances and trades people concerned. This set me back financially to pay the trades people. I had to approach the bank inquiring for a loan. The bank wanted to refinance a loan with my mortgage. This took awhile, so my Contractor and trades had to wait some time to get paid. I contacted Llubica directly and asked her about compensation for the trusses, she refused to reimburse me. She did however, return the cost I paid her for the Blueprints $787.50 and for what she charged my contractor $678.18. The mistakes Llubica made with this drafting came out to approximately $5400.00 plus, thus not including my contractor’s wage. I would like some kind of reimbursement from Llubica Fa-Hardi Drafting & Drawing. Although she said she could not, she must have some insurance for issues like this. The bank would not give me enough finances to cover all my extra costs. I am now gradually trying to pay the Plumber $6090.00 and Electrician $4677.92. This is going to take some time. As I am a one income household. I have also acquired other expenses by using my credit cards to pay for the necessary materials that complete the building ($10,000). I was encouraged to write to you by others. Even though I did not want to cause any problems for the Drafter. I realized this could happen to someone else, and it was not right it happened to me. The financial burden has added extreme stress in my life. Please let me know how you can help me or what I need to do. ********* **** ***** ******** ********* ************ *********************
