Atlas was booked to conduct a sewer inspection on the property I am about to purchase on February 28, 2024.After the inspection, the sewer inspector claimed that they cannot reached the city sewer side because of his camera length and there is no way it can be completed because they do not have longer cameras. He claimed that 81 ft is clear, but the 10ft to city side has not been inspected. Hence, the inspection service is incomplete.

I found out from my home inspector that this is dubious because they have and even use longer cameras and the sewer problem usually occurs near the city side sewer. So I called my initial contact inspector from Sewer atlas and he told me I didn’t know it was incomplete. He claimed that if I were the one it should be complete. He told me that there is nothing that can be done at this point.

The realtor also claimed that this must be completed so there is no risk of having to pay $30,000 if there is sewer problem that need to be addressed due to sewer blocks (i.e. roots). So I phones Atlas main office to request them to go back to the site to complete the inspection. The representative claimed I would have to pay another inspection fee and that I should have requested industrial camera right away from booking the service.

This is very frustrating as I am buying a residential property where an incomplete sewer inspection that I paid for was done appropriately and running a risk of sewer problem. They should go back to the property prior to closing date of the house purchase on March 28, 2024.

    Business Response

    Date: 12/03/2024

I would like to thank you for the opportunity to respond to this complaint. The concern our customer had was the 10 feet of sewer pipe city side that could not be inspected by the CCTV camera used. To resolve this, we re-booked the service call free of charge on March 11/24 and performed a successful CCTV of the entire sewer line. I would like to apologize to our customer for any inconvenience we caused and would like to thank them for working with us to get the desired result of the service we provided.
