We are writing to express our deep concern regarding the poor quality of workmanship and service provided by *** ******** in Saskatoon, and the lack of accountability from North Ridge Construction in addressing the issue.

As homeowners who recently purchased a property from North Ridge Construction, we engaged *** ******** to pour the driveway. Unfortunately, after only 7 months, we started experiencing significant issues with the concrete, including pitting and stones popping out. Despite our attempts to engage *** ******** and North Ridge Construction to resolve the issue, we have been met with silence, disregard, and excuses.

The situation has only gotten worse, with stones continuing to pop out and the concrete deteriorating rapidly. We are now left with a driveway that not only poses a safety hazard but also detracts from the overall appearance and value of our property.

We engaged another company to inspect the driveway, and they have confirmed that the concrete was poured incorrectly, which is causing the defects. The fact that *** ******** has ignored our requests to come and view the defective concrete only serves to exacerbate our frustration and concern.

As homeowners, we expect the companies we engage to provide quality workmanship and service, and to stand behind their products. We are deeply disappointed that this has not been the case with *** ******** and North Ridge Construction. The lack of accountability and responsibility demonstrated by both companies in addressing this issue is simply unacceptable.

We demand that *** ******** and North Ridge Construction take immediate action to rectify the situation. This includes acknowledging their responsibility for the defective concrete, providing a plan to repair the driveway, and taking measures to prevent similar issues from arising in the future.

      Business Response

      Date: 09/05/2023

We have examined the driveway and there are indeed some rock pops, but they are pretty minor. With the aggregate that is available in the Saskatoon area some rock pops should be expected. The fact that the City of Saskatoon changed their "salt" mix in the last couple years has contributed to the rock pops issue in Saskatoon and area. When we learned that the city had changed their salt mixture and we discovered some of the issues it was causing we started to suggest to Homeowners that they put a sealer on their driveways to help protect it. There will be no further action by North Ridge. The Saskatchewan New Home Warranty program does not have any warranty on this type of an issue with driveways.
