We (***) had an engine out of a JLG 40RTS scissor lift that had failed for low compression. *** removed the engine from the machine and brought it to Precise Engines for a complete rebuild. The engine was rebuilt and *** had it picked it up and brought it to our shop. The engine was installed into the machine by one of our journeyman techs. The engine was filled with oil and the oil system was primed. The engine was started and oil pressure was monitored on the machine. The engine had oil pressure over 30 psi. The engine ran for less than one minute of total time before seizing and was no longer able to turn over. During the time it was running there was white smoke coming from the exhaust and what appeared to be oil dripping from the exhaust pipe. The engine was then removed and brought back to Precise Engines. Precise Engines stated a rod bearing was damaged and blamed it on a lack of oil. We have discussed this failure with several other machine shops in Western Canada and in Minnesota. They all believe this type of failure would be due to incorrect assembly at Precise Engines. The engine was then repaired again and *** charged for the repair. Precise Engines would not warranty this engine. *** would like a full refund for the repair of the engine ($2,332.17) along with the associated labor costs of removing and installing the motor again due to failure from Precise Engines.

We appreciate ****** ***** ******** frustration with their situation; however, we feel there are inaccuracies and a misrepresentation of facts in their statement as to what occurred. Our experience and accreditation within the industry in conjunction with the information and evidence we have, does not substantiate ****** ***** ******** claim that Precise Engines is responsible for the engine failure. At this time, Precise Engines is not willing to provide warranty for this engine failure. Precise Engines would welcome further discussion with ****** ***** ******** at a future time when both parties can have a mutual and respectful conversation around the occurrence.
