    I talked to ***************** fall several times about fixing three broken posts on my fence. At the time he quoted me $400 but then never responded to my texts to set up a time. I ran into him twice over the winter and reminded him about the fence. He said he had seen my texts. This spring I contacted him again. He suggested removing my tree. I told him I was definitely interested in that as well. He quoted me $400 for the tree removal. I agreed. He looked at my fence and told me that he could fix it but wasnt sure how much wood he could save. He quoted me $1700 to fix the fence. When I asked why it was so high all of a sudden versus last year, he told me that the fence quote was for a total replacement (worst case scenario) and that hed try to save as much wood as possible and that the actual price would be lower depending on how much wood could be saved. I told him that I was definitely interested, but that I was going to ********* (7 hour drive north) for the weekend and would be gone for four days. During one of my stops I saw a text from him about already being in my yard and working. I tried to call. No answer. I call again and he answers and says he already had my fence down and the tree cut out. I had not agreed to it yet, nor was I prepared for it. I was out of town as he well knew. But it was too late. When I got back the fence was repaired. He left about two thirds of the old planks up. So I texted and asked him how much it would be since he was able to save so much wood. He called immediately and was forceful. He claimed that the now almost $1800 fence bill was only for a partial replacement (although he could not have quoted a partial replacement without knowing exactly how much wood he could salvage). He persisted to lie vehemently, and I realized he refuses to text or put things in writing other than billing. He billed me $2200. This is my only recourse. He should either replace all the wood on my fence, or discount the price to compensate.
