I signed a lease with this company and spent money and time moving into a dwelling. The locks were changed and I no longer had access to my belongings or dwelling. Ive emailed the woman I signed the lease with numerous times requesting a full refund and she refuses to return my funds. I lost $200 of groceries in the process as well. I believe this is called a Bait and Switch. I want my money. back and reimbursed for the groceries and moving costs.

      Business Response

******* called the House of Transformation on 11/28/2023 in a desperate situation saying she and her dog had been sleeping in her car for days and she was losing hope because it was getting cold outside. She told a whole story of having paid rent at a previous location and then getting kicked out. Even though she did not have any money on the night she moved in she guaranteed payment within the next couple of days from the two jobs she said she had. So, out of compassion for her situation we allowed her to move into the single room, shared apartment with her dog on the night of 11/28/23 without receiving any payment. By 11/30/23 we had received a little more than $200 toward a balance due of $1,990 for November/December housing and security deposit.

Because the unit she was renting was a single room in a shared two (2) bedroom apartment one of the terms of her leasing agreement, which she signed on 11/30/23, states Subject to Tenant's consent (which shall not be unreasonably withheld), Landlord shall have the right to enter the Premises to make inspections, provide necessary services, or show the unit to prospective buyers, mortgagees, tenants or workers. Landlord will provide reasonable notice of its intention to enter the Premises. If ****** has, after written notice to cease, continued to deny Landlord access to the unit, as required by State law, such failure is a substantial breach of this agreement and is a just cause for eviction.

On 11/30 ******* was notified via text that we needed access to the unit to show to a perspective renter the empty room but she denied access saying that we didnt give her enough notice, so we rescheduled for the following day to show the empty room. But again, on 12/1 and 12/2 she denied access to the unit thus causing House of Transformation to lose income from a perspective renter. She was notified that this was a breach of contract on the morning of 12/2 and that she needed to move out immediately. She was uncooperative so once she left for work at mid-day we changed the door code locking her out of the unit but she was able to retrieve the remainder of her belongings on 12/4/23. ******* also harassed our staff by text and ******** messages and then called the office and pretended to be the police stating she was going to come arrest us. We called the police to verify and they said no one called the office.

On 12/5/23 I received an email from ******* requesting a refund for more than she paid saying that we owed for her hotel bill for 12/2, 12/3 and 12/4. I responded to her email notifying her that we would be willing to refund her the difference between what she paid and the days she stayed (5 days [11/28 to 12/2] at $30/day) and asked where she would like me to mail the refund check; she never provided her mailing address. To this ******* emailed back demanding a refund of more than what was due her and never advised me where to send her refund check.

During this whole encounter ******* was unappreciative, uncooperative, manipulative and abrasive, breaching her contract even though we had been willing to work with her financially to give her a warm, safe place to live with her dog until she was able to get paid from her two jobs.

      Complaint: 21176331

I am rejecting this response because I did in fact pay for the first 2 nights immediately from my credit card.  Then I went to 500 ************** to an office and signed a lease.  I gave a women by the name is ************ who claimed she was the accountant.  I was told only **** would be accepted for rent.  I gave her all the cash I had on me which was $260.  It was after 6pm and the end of business.  We agreed I would bring the cash to them the following business day.  I had to work overtime the following day and was unable to do so but left a message I was off the next day and would bring it over immediately upon the start of business which was Monday December 4th, 2023.
I was threatened and harassed by *******************************, her husband, and her staff all day Saturday December 2nd, 2023.  I had to work on the military base all day.  I came home after a 12 hour shift that day and the locks were changed.
I spent $300 for by belongings to be moved into the place, $200 on perishable food, and $160 on a hotel after I was locked out purposely by House of  Transformation.  I called the ************************* on Monday and the *************** 211 to make a business complaint about the House of Transformation.  I found out the owner of this business has serious Federal Charges for embezzlement, money laundering, and identity theft.  Ive included the charges as an attachment.  It was a mistake per the *** and the *************** that this business be on any list for housing needs. It had since been removed.
I want all of my money back.  I have since found a safe place to live through a professional real estate agent Veteran Affairs connected me with after the awful experience I had with House of Transformation.
I was in no way at fault or going to be relocated 48 hours after I signed a lease.  I had a shattered foot June 5th and was unable to walk until October 12th.  I had just started back to work full time a month before I was a victim of a Bate and Switch by ************************.
The check can be mailed to ***********************************************************.  If Im not made whole financially the the help of the BBB I have an attorney who offered to take the case as its a textbook Bate and Switch.  I would prefer to settle this amicably and out of court.

      Sincerely,

      ***********************************

These I are numerous Federal Charges I referenced.  The House of Transformation is owned and managed by ************************.  She is the woman who wanted to *********** only 48 hours after I signed a lease and moved into the address on the lease.  She had no respect for American Veterans and working women.
