We went out with Captain ********************* ****************************************************************** 30 plus years of going out on charters in ******. We have been from Southeast ****** to ******, ****** and fished with just about every company out there and Catch A Lot Charters hands down is the best we have been with. We went out to fish one of ***** ''honey holes'' out deep and the fish were not cooperating there than he took the extra effort to move 10 miles farther out in Cook Inlet and we caught fish after fish and not little fish but nice 50 to 80 pound Halibut. We have already booked two days in June 2023 to fish with them again. Highly recommended!

I would not recommend catch a lot charters. They no call no showed us. After traveling thousands of miles and spending a lot of money to get here just for this tour, waking up super early to get to the boat dock on time, our captain was nowhere to be found. After talking to the harbor master and another captain on the launch ramp, they said its par for the course, that **** (the captain/ owner for catch a lot charters) does not show up. I had received a reminder email the day before and it stated the captain would reach out to give an exact departure time. I tried calling multiple times and sent and email in the afternoon with no response. The confirmation email said to meet at 7 so we figured that was correct and he was just really busy. Cut to we arrive the next morning, and no captain. Another email, 15 or 20 phone calls, and 2 hours later I finally heard back - but from ***** wife. They claimed to have refunded me and sent out a cancellation notice the day before, but in their screenshots they sent as evidence it clearly shows the cancelation taking place at 9 am the day of, 2 hours after our supposed departure. The reason for canceling according to them? Bad weather. Weve been here over a week now and this is one of the best days Ive seen. No rain, no storms in sight and lots of boats out on the water. We even had some other boat tours in other parts of ****** on way rougher seas. Maybe the sea was rougher out by the bears or maybe his boat cant handle it, but I think the more likely scenario is he didnt have a full boat or didnt feel like working. I still have yet to receive the actual cancelation email. To catch a lot charters: I would suggest being honest, include a warning in the booking process that describes tours are frequently canceled due to weather (see other reviews), offer a different destination instead of canceling or not even showing up! I thought boat tours were better because the werent as limited by weather like planes (see website)

Our Company Response:The distance between ****************** to Chinitna Bay is approx. 50 nautical miles and the trip was cancelled Due N wind increasing to 20 kt. seas building to 5 ft. Just for your future reference and knowledge in general it's totally different weather you get in the middle of Cook Inlet that the weather in protected Kachemay Bay (your picture). -Rain does not stop a trip, but wind does. It can rain, be beautiful, clear all day and the wind still blows. We had a small craft warning and as a small family business operation we DO NOT risk our guests or captain's **** to travel 50 miles across the inlet in potentially dangerous conditions. As a fourth generation ******* professional Experienced Guide with over 26 years' experience, we understand safety first. We also emailed you the night before cancelling the tour, and we had 2 other groups the same day that received theirs. We all want to see the bears, but mother nature had other plans sometimes. We DO NOT RISK PEOPLES LIVES to go see bears. If you actually took the time to call around to the other two businesses that do Bear Viewing by boat, you would find out they canceled too. And after communicating with you and understanding your frustration over your once in a ****time trip to ****** and as a courtesy we also offered you a FREE trip for two and instead you texted our explanation "BS" and asked please relay your frustration to captain/company and treated with nasty review on every platform. I guess ************** actually accomplished! Thank you in advance,Capt. ************Owner/Operator ************
