I wish I could leave Zero stars. I've been a nurse for over 30 ******** feel compelled to share my recent experience with this facility, which has raised significant concerns regarding their rehabilitation ************** processes. On 4/17/2025, my 80-year-old mother sustained a femur FX after a fall. She underwent surgery on Easter Sunday, 4/20 to repair the *** She was admitted to this facility on 4/25 despite my reservations about her readiness to leave the hospital. During the admission process, I was informed my mother would receive therapy 3x's/day throughout her stay. The surgeon stated my mother should not put weight on her leg for 6 weeks; however, she was'nt assisted out of bed until just a week before her d/c. She was left to urinate/defecate on herself in the bed. Throughout her stay, I did'nt receive any communication from the therapy ***** regarding her progress or her discharge/transition plan. The d/c planner called me the week prior to her d/c to confirm her discharge date, which I was already aware of. During that conversation, I expressed my concerns about her readiness for d/c. There was no discussion regarding a d/c plan or what would happen when she returned home. Besides the lack of communication regarding transition of care, she came home with a *** Stage 1 ulcer on her buttocks w/some areas bleeding & going into a Stage 2. She told me she was left in urine/feces for hours at times, and other times the call light was not working. Sent her home on w/e without any supplies or equipment. She is barely eating or drinking, and her health has significantly declined. After 20 days there, she can barely move her surgical leg, much less do anything else. Before the incident & subsequent surgery, my mother was relatively independent, continent, using a ****** for mobility & managing her daily activities, including driving. While she is 80 years old, I firmly believe that a femur FX should not, under normal circumstances, be a life-threatening issue.

Athens Health and rehab is the worst place to send a loved one. My mom was there for 2 weeks and did not get the care that she needed. Mom has dementia .and needs help with going to ************* and even walking. They were told this daily via mom family. No one came in to check on her and when the nurse button was pushed it took 20 minutes for response. Other than the short time in rehab room, mom was left in her room. This rehab wanted us to extend mom stay and when we said no, they were not happy. Due to icy roadways, we could not get to mom for 2 days and the cost became unbelievable,2 times more than what was told to us when mom was admitted, and they wanted the money up front. Really! If I could bring them money, I would have picked up my mom. I did call moms insurance to look into this.
