I would like to file a complaint against Jacob ********************** with ********************** and Sons Remodeling. I recently signed a contract with this company to complete a new addition on to my home. The contract was signed the end of January 2023 with the deadline of all work to be completed by April 9, 2023 (Easter weekend). The interior was completed just in time. However, the exterior is still not completed. The siding is started but not completed. There are still no handrails on the inside of the ramp creating a fall hazard. We have asked several times to be completed and all equipment removed from our property by the weekend before Memorial Day as we have scheduled events at our home. We feel as though our home is no longer a priority to Mr. ********************** or his crew. We receive excuse after excuse as to why a crew can not show up. Weather conditions, malfunctioning equipment, other jobs, Lowes delivery, etc. We feel we have been more than understanding and have offered to pick up materials if needed and have priced and transported some materials ourselves to speed up the process and deter more excuses

************** ********************** called BBB and said he was surprised to receive the complaint from *************, he thought the work was going well.  Mr. ********************** did admit that some jobs such as the siding has slowed down, but the siding crew has been there Monday and today. Once the siding has been completed the handrails can be installed. Based on the contract, once the siding has been installed it will be painted, clean up performed and the contract will be completed.  Mr. ********************** did mention he wasn't sure how you wanted to finish the open area under the new construction. This area is not listed on the contract which means you are free to hire someone else or complete the work yourself.

I am rejecting this response because: we have spoken from the beginning about closing in the bottom of the addition. ***************** has walked around the addition with Jacob ********************** and several of his Sub contractors and expressed his need for an access door to access the original access door to the existing structure. This was in the very initial stages of planning the addition as well as throughout the phases of construction. All of the sudden towards completion, we were told it was going to be left open. This will expose the duct work to animals, rodents & weather. There is no insulation under the floor or moisture barrier. This is unacceptable and when I told ***** it was unacceptable he said he would try to figure out and alternative solution to completing the under part of the addition.

    Sincerely,

    *********************

5-24-2023 ************** Kosiba called BBB to add comments regarding ********************* rebuttal. The siding was completed on Tuesday, the handrail should be added today or tomorrow (Wed or Thursday). The soffit and facia boards are being worked on today (Wednesday). The siding should be painted next week if weather permits. Pcole of BBB asked about enclosing the bottom of the addition, he stated he and ************ spoke about this but it is not listed on the contract. Homeowner can contact another contractor for that work.  Since this addition was build on posts, much like a deck, no insulation was listed or installed per the terms of the contract.
