    My wife and I hired ************** to build a privacy fence around my home. My father-in-law, his next-door, neighbor recommended him to us. He charged us $6000 to build the fence with a $4000 deposit. It ended up taking 4 months until we ultimately fired him for failing to meet his obligations, communication, shoddy and inferior work and for failing to finish the build or correct any issues pointed out.In July 2022, He agreed to build us a fence around the rear perimeter of our property. He told us that it would be completed within three (3) days He started on July 12, 2022. He failed to adhere to completion dates he set. Altogether he told us he would be done by July 23, August 6, August 14, September 24, and October 6, 2022. That is the last time my wife and I heard anything from him. We fired him on November 18. We asked him many times to fix or correct certain issues that were not up to standards or such as trimming exposed nails cutting top post, grading rear fence line with the slope of the ground, adding the rails to the entirety of the framed post; fixing spacing along the fence rails, checking all boards were nailed to the frame, replacing warped panels and misaligned gate. Also, he did not use a chalk or straight line to ensure that he fence post were straight before cementing them in the ground. when I pointed out how crooked the post where, he assured us he would correct it and the fence would be straight. This he accomplished by nailing and additional board between the fence post and privacy boards. Every interaction we had he made excuses, or he didn't respond. We ended up consulted another ************* and they apologized and quoted us a higher price stated that the entire fence would have to be torn down and replaced because it was so bad. The fence is still standing even though nails are separating from the post and portions of the fence are starting to fall. I cannot afford to hire someone to replace it so I will do it in the spring.
