On August 7th, I reached out to Birmingham Performance Motors for an estimate to install performance parts on my 2019 Camaro with only 68k miles. The agreed estimate was $2,200. I dropped off the car on September 3rd and picked it up on September 18th. The final bill was $4,710, and the car had been given a street tune instead of the agreed dyno tune. ******* ******, my primary contact, mentioned the car had occasional starting issues but said it was okay to drive.Over the next few days, I noticed problems: rough driving, erratic idling, and a persistent vibration likely linked to the exhaust installation. A body shop later found a missing s**** in the *** sensor, which could cause unmetered air, potentially leading to engine issues such as failed lifters I got autozone to scan the engine and revealed 26 trouble codes, which should have been addressed during the tune.I reported these concerns on September 27th, returned the car on September 30th, and was told it was resolved by October 3rd. However, starting problems persisted. On October 4th, during a drive to a charity car event show only 30 miles away. On the way back home the engine began knocking. I returned the car to the shop on October 7th, they diagnosed it and it was the left bank lifters gone bad they proposed repair scenarios ranging from $2,400 to $14,900, with overlapping labor charges. They offered a 20% labor discount, but the estimates were significantly higher than other local shops.Despite regular maintenance and use of premium fuel, the shop refused to take responsibility, suggesting the car was destined to develop issues. Communication was minimal unless initiated by me, and I have documentation to support my claims. I am seeking a full refund of $4,710 or for the shop to cover necessary repairs at a dealership of my choice, as I no longer trust them to work on my car. The shop admitted to me multiple mistakes they made during one of the many attempts we made to resolve the issue fairly.
