We purchased indoor shutters via ****** Dec 2022. ******** Window Fashions (****) in **********, ** installed. After measuring, the **** **** ****************** stated that some homeowners are unable to open windows after installation but this would "not" be an issue given the home was 6 years old. She stated that all customers must initial their understanding as that was their customary practice but assured us there would be no issues. I informed her that under no circumstances would we purchase shutters if we were unable to open the windows because we had previously replaced two fractured windows (I can provide invoices). I explained that our windows and screens open from the inside. As such, if we had another fractured window, we would have to tear out the screen as you cant remove without opening the window and pulling the window up, then forward. The screens cannot be removed from the outside. Once the shutters were installed we checked several of the windows to ensure they opened and they did. Since all the windows are made the same, we presumed all would open and didnt check the other windows. Almost a year later, we had an infestation of lady bugs between the window and the screen in one window. When we tried to open to clean, we learned we could not open the window. I contacted **** on 11/13/2023 and ************** noted that I had initialed my understanding that the windows may not open after installation. I explained our previous conversation and stated 4 windows opened but the others can't because the shutters should be an 1/2 inch wider. All windows have identical style so why was measuring not consistent. The garage window should have been the only issue. We built a luxury home with high quality windows that should be very easy to open and clean but we cant without tearing up the screens and replacing them. We were very clear that we didnt want to spend over $14,000 for shutters if it prevented us from opening the windows properly given our history.
