My sister bought her marker and paid in full June 2004. Her name ***** Limbaugh ****. She passed away June 2024. I called to get her marker placed and was told 6-8 weeks out. On 9/26/2024, I called to check on marker and was told the marker was in a building damaged by a tree falling two years ago and a new marker had to be ordered. I was not contacted about the situation. They promised a call when they checked the list to see if it was in an order arriving in two weeks. I never received a call.10/18/2024 I called back and was told the marker would be delivered next week. They did not call.10/30/024 I called back and was told they would check ticket and call me back in an hour.10/31/2024 I called back because they never called me. This time I was told the marker was scheduled to be sandblasted but she didn't know when he would get to it. I was promised a picture and phone call once it is completed. 11/12/2024 I still have received no call or follow up. This has been five months now and I have never received any return calls promised.

      Business Response

      Date: 11/25/2024

In response to the complaint filed by **** *****, sister of ***** Limbaugh ******, we have reviewed the matter and our response is as follows.

On June 14, 2004, Mrs. ***** ****** purchased a ******* ****** flat marker from our Gadsden, Alabama office.  This marker was to be built and kept in storage until Mrs. ****** passed away. Upon her death, we were to be notified by her family and we would remove the marker from storage.  Once the marker is removed form storage we would add the death date to the marker and deliver to ****************** at no charge.

We were contacted by Mrs. **** ***** in late June to have the marker pulled from storage, death date added to the marker of June 20, 2024,and delivered to the cemetery.  The initial time frame given to complete this work was 6 to 8 weeks.  When locating the marker on our storage lot,it was discovered it been damaged from a storm where a tree had fallen on several markers and damaged them.

We ordered a new marker from the *************************************** rather than make any attempt to repair the existing marker, as it was beyond repair.  The lead time on a new marker is 6 to 8 months.  We were able to expedite the marker and get into our plant within 3 months.  Once the marker arrived, we lettered and carved it per the original contract.

The marker goes to a privately owned cemetery, ******************, in *******, Alabama.  We must set marker by their rules, and they have to layout the grave for the marker and schedule a time to install the marker with their crew.   We have contacted the cemetery on four separate occasions since November 4, 2024, to install the marker.  We have had no response until today November 25th from the cemetery.  They stated they have had several funerals and have been short staffed and not able to schedule a time to meet with us.  After discussion with the cemetery today, they have agreed, weather permitting, to flag the grave today and we can set the marker tomorrow Nov. 26th.

Our owner, Pierre ******** *** reached out today by phone to Mrs. ************ He was unable to reach her and left a voicemail for her to contact him to let her know of the latest developments.

Due to an act of mother nature damaging the marker, and the inability of the cemetery to schedule a time for delivery, our hands have been tied.  We do want to reiterate that we were able to receive the replacement marker in half the time it would have taken to get one under normal circumstances.  Our crew will text Mrs. ***** a picture of the completed marker per her request once the marker is installed tomorrow weather permitting.

      Thank you.
