I paid Mr ****************** $273 on March 21 to compute and file my income tax returns with the *** and ****************. He did not file my tax returns untill after I submittrd a complaint to this BBB and filed a police report. Thus he filed my tax returns, but they were several months late. I received notice from the *** that I owed an interest and late payment penalty of $752. I paid $752 to the *** on 8/29/2023. I request that Mr.****************** reimburse me for the $752 I was required to pay because he was late fiing my *** tax return.Business Response

On March 21, 2023 my wife and I met with ***** Thompson in his office. We provided our income tax records and ***** completed our state and federal returns. We paid ***** $273 by check which he deposited. We expected to get our tax records back in a few weeks along with copies of the filed tax returns. We owed the *** money to be withdrawn from our checking account on April 15. We have not received our tax records back or copies of our filed tax returns as on July 12. I learned from the *** that no federal tax return has been received from me. This is the first time in 60 years I did not file a tax return on time. I REQUEST that ***** either file my tax returns late OR return $273 and my income tax records to me.Business Response

Filed taxes supposedly on part day of filing period. electronically. I had a huge bill both for federal and state. He gave me the paperwork to sends payments to IRS. I went to mail checks and was told I could pick up paper copies of taxes in about a week, at that time I was going to pay bill of $460 for tax prep. I have called and gone by there for months. This guy doesnt return calls or take them. I spoke with him about 2 weeks ago finally and wanted my # to call me back, never did. Im not sure if this guy maybe scamming people?Business Response

I contacted ***** to file my taxes two months prior to tax day, after using his services for years. I left numerous messages for him through his receptionists, but wasnt able to get in touch with him for quite a while. About a week before tax day I was finally able to speak with him directly. He said that he was working on my taxes, as I had sent him my documentation through our previous portal, but that he was very busy. Since I had been attempting to get this done for almost two months I wasnt very happy but decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and move on. I answered any question I was asked and helped as much as I could to get them done on time after this. I got in touch day of tax day to see what the status of my return was and was told that I was a couple down the list and that he would get back with me. I received a call at almost midnight that night that I missed as I was sleeping for work early the next morning. Since then I have called multiple times at varying times and days of the week, emailed him, and even had my mother visit the office as I live out of state. I havent heard a single thing about my return or if it was ever even filed.Business Response

My husband and I left our tax documents with Mr. ****************** in April. As of today (June 13, 2023), he has not filed/submitted our tax return for the 2022 year. We have been unable to get him on the phone for two months. His voicemail box is full, and we are unable to leave him a message. Every time we go to the office, there is no one there. I have even made attempts to contact him via ******** messenger through his personal page, but have received no response. I have contacted local law enforcement to attempt to get assistance. All we want at this point is to get our documents/materials so that we can find an accountant who will file our taxes for us.
