On December 16th 2021, I enrolled as a student for the Shoals Dental Assisting program in ********, *******. I was told, but I would be paying $4,500 for my tuition, which included the $500 to go toward my ************** (****) for my certification. After completion of the program, I went to take the Board exam for my employer and was told that the school I attended was NOT *** accredited and that I am not applicable for the Registered Dental Assistant certificate. After reaching out to ******************************* who co Owns the program, she admitted she didnt think the program was *** accredited and that it was misleading. I would not have taken out a loan for $4,500 thru CareCredit for a school that was not accredited but promised the **** board cert. now, not only am I responsible for paying back that money for a certificate I was never goi g to receive, I am now at risk for losing my job beings that I can not obtain my credentials.

She is disputing that the program is not accredited with the ******** Dental Association. We are not and it does not say anywhere on our marketing materials (brochure, website, or ********* that we are accredited. The only way to have an *** accredited program for dental assisting is to go to a college for 2 years. We can send a copy of the brochure we use and you can look at the website Shoalsdentalassisting.com. In the ****************, you do not have to be certified to be a dental assistant. This is the same way in all the Alabama 12 week dental assisting programs (no one is *** accredited). We do say that we will assist in preparation and scheduling for the Certified Dental Assisting Exam or the Nation Entry Level Dental Assistant exam. We are sorry that she thought we were accredited, but in none of our materials does it say that we are *** accredited. We do not know what other states require. She was reimbursed for the money for her test.

We have been slow to respond to the BBB because the partner of the school that handles this is in college, working full time, bought a new house and is getting married in 2 weeks. Please let me know if you need any further information.

I attended a 12 week program with this company and the owner did a terrible job keeping in contact with me as her student I have yet to receive my CPR certification after being told I would receive it and now we have been out of school for almost 2 months. Im not satisfied that I paid $3,244.50 and barely received anything out of the entire program.
