My mother stored her belongings at this storage facility for about 5-6 years. A couple of years ago, the business apparently changed hands and rates went from 45/mo to 85/mo. My mother is elderly and recently drove ******************************************** her unit. She rented a uhaul trailer to do so. When she arrived at the facility, her lock had been removed and her unit was trashed. She soon realized that most of her belongings had been stolen. The owner claimed that they were aware units had been robbed and yet not once was my mother contacted about this or informed of a potential robbery until she arrived to collect her things. The owner offered 0 compensation, no direction to file a police report, and had a story that absolutely did NOT add up. While I recognize that many storage unit places have legalese in their contracts which protect them from having to fake liability for lost/damaged items, this ROBBERY is incomprehensible. How can a business call itself secure storage when they allow units to be ROBBED? Among the many things that were stolen was a FILING CABINET FULL OT DOCUMENTS, which means my senior mother, dead father, and myself are now all at risk of having our identities stolen by whatever horrible people committed this atrocity. This business has known of a possible robbery for years and said NOTHING, which means filing a police report will do no good. This is disgusting and the business, at the very LEAST, owes my mother a partial refund for the ***** her storage sat, collecting full rent on, while her items had been stolen.
