On August 6th I took my Cadillac to Bentley for an oil change. While the car was there it was damaged - a truck backed into it (or they backed into a truck) damaging the trunk/tail light/back of car. Long story short, I asked the manager what diminished value they were going to give me for damaging my car. When the manager asked me for a figure, I said $5,000, to which he said, “We won’t settle this, you don’t know what you are talking about”. He also said no one would know the car was wrecked, as they don’t report it. They can lie about it, but I’m not going to.
They of course fixed the car in their body shop. I was given a “loaner” car while they fixed mine. It smelled so bad I couldn’t even use it. No one called me to tell me the status of my car, so when I called on Wed. Or Thursday of this past week, I was told my car was ready. Before I go to get my car and return the “loaner” I again asked about the diminished value. He offered me $22,000 for my car, which I did not want to sell, and when I told him that, he said , “we can do this the easy way or the hard way, but I’m coming to get my car by 5:00”. Him offering me what he called a “great deal” on my car tells me he knows I’m entitled to diminished value due to no fault of my own. The total bill for copy of invoice for damages was $5,063.04 from body shop .

Customers car was damaged by one of our employees . We repaired the vehicle in our Bodyshop. Customer stated they were going to sell the vehicle so we offered to buy their car.

Customer is requesting 5000 diminished value which is not reasonable.  We have had new cars damaged and insurance will pay very little diminished value.

I am rejecting this response because:

‘A.  I did not say I was selling  my car.

    B. Diminished value IS a REAL thing.

I was wondering who responded to this - I would request that BBB speak/communicate with **** ******* who has some authority to make these decisions.

I feel we have taken care of this customer and she is not reasonable on her request.

We got with an insurance adjuster, and they stated $800 with all the details of this situation.

If she takes this amount I will require them to sign a release and prefer them not come in our store.

    Thank you

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 1*******, and

I’m curious as to what insurance adjuster stated $800, as I have an estimate from Bentley, (attached) that says $5,063.

I will accept his ridiculous offer, if paid IMMEDIATELY, and no worries about me EVER doing business with them again.
