    DO NOT TRUST Riley Technicians.
It's crucial that you're informed about Riley technicians' tactics. In 2020, I invested substantially in a new Carrier HVAC system from Riley Heating and Cooling. However, despite the system being under warranty, I've encountered overcharging, unnecessary services, and equipment billing. This is a warning. Be vigilant and aware of potential unnecessary costs.
It's crucial that you do not trust Riley technicians. I'm sharing my experience to prevent others, especially military members, from being taken advantage of. Dealing with Riley HVAC Technicians will not bring you peace of mind; you'll find yourself in need of their services time and again. This is just the latest in a series of problems I've had with Riley Heating and Cooling.
Here's my experience: On June 26, I discovered I needed to replace the fan motor in my new system. Although the part was under warranty, Riley charged over $400.00 for its installation. Then, on August 14, the system displayed a service/lockout code and stopped blowing cool air. The technician told me I needed 10 lbs of refrigerant added for at least $850.00, even though the unit only holds 13 lbs of refrigerant.
If I had allowed Riley's technician to add 10 lbs of refrigerant, he would have blown up the system because it did not need refrigerant. I asked, "How does a system lose 10 lbs of refrigerant?" He stated: "There must be a leak, but I cannot find it. So, do you want to purchase the refrigerant?" Wow! Terrible troubleshooting! Thank God I am a reasonably decent HVAC technician. Anyway, I refused to pay Riley $85 for the service call. I assessed my system and discovered that the system's metering device needs replacing. Of course, the metering device should be operable for a new (5-year-old) system. However, Riley's installer didn't braze using nitrogen or allowed debris to enter the system. Bad install!

When we had a semi-annual checkup on our HVAC system in early spring, the technician reported that our cooling system had failed and we needed a new system. Someone from their sales department came out and gave us an estimate on a replacement. Even though we’d done business with them for at least 30 years, we decided to get a second estimate from Riley Heating and Air. After Shane came out and gave us our options, we decided to go with the Carrier ******** system. It was installed by Jonathan and Phillip, who worked in a timely and efficient manner; and Tim inspected their work. We felt they were both courteous and professional.
We’ve been very pleased with the cooling efficiency of the new unit over the last couple of months. When I called the office about a question I had about the Carrier app, they sent Jimmy out to check the thermostat and explain what had happened to the app. We look forward to a positive and long-lasting relationship with the Riley team.

After having an inspection and service, with an inspection report stating the system was in good working order, we moved into our new home and the AC stopped working on the first day. The service technician damaged the service ports he hooked up to on the previous inspection and the freon leaked out. In their report , it stated "no leaks found". After a week of talking with them, they told me it would cost me $1400 to repair the damage and that the technician did nothing wrong. They also stated they were "being nice" and gave me a 20 percent discount. This company is as terrible and dishonest as it gets. They do not stand by their work and refuse to admit they did wrong. They also left torn material on the ground from the foam covering on the freon lines and did not put the caps back on the service ports. In conclusion, they came out, broke my ac system that was working fine and then tried to upsell me a new one and lied about their tech damaging the system. Makes me sick.
