  I'm sorry to have to write this review - I really didn't want to, because my first experience with Five Star was a great one. The second one, however, was a nightmare, and I don't want that to happen to other people. Just over a year ago, I hired them to paint the concrete in my carport (a single-car size space) and a very small area of concrete just outside my front door. The paint from the previous homeowner had peeled off, and I thought having a professional do it might help keep it from peeling again. I talked with ****, showed him the area and explained what I needed and my concerns, and he said he could do it with a special acid treatment to make the paint stick. The price for this was $1,300 (!!), which gave me pause but I thought, "If he knows how to make it work, it will be worth it." Within a couple of weeks, the paint was peeling off, not just in the tire track area but also in other places where it was bubbling up and peeling. I reached out to them, and their first suggestion was "get rubber mats for the tire track area." I told them I wasn't happy with that suggestion - I could've done that myself without paying $1,300 for them to paint it. Over the next year, we emailed occasionally, with them saying they were working on a solution but were waiting for the weather to get better, etc. Now a year later, they've told me that they can't fix it and aren't willing to give me a refund - they said they don't warranty "horizontal spaces" or give refunds for finished projects. I told them in my opinion, the project was never finished since it peeled immediately and they never came back to fix it as they said they would. They told me this week that they couldn't keep it from peeling but they would do it again if I would pay for materials. I bought a can of the same kind of paint they used ($50 at *********** and did it myself with the same results. I told them honestly I feel scammed and asked them to fix it, but they refuse.

  ******************** we are sorry this project did not meet your satisfaction.  In May ************************************************************************************************************************************************************ our area the weather had been wet and humid for months and that was not ideal for your project. In September, I contacted you to line up a date since the weather was consistently better and you let us know you had already purchased a product and taken care of it yourself. At that time, it was best for us to leave the concrete alone. There is no way for us to know what you had done, how it was done, or when it was done. You stated previously that the paint was peeling, and we would never guarantee an already peeling surface.  We pride ourselves on quality work (as you have stated in your previous project), however some surfaces cannot be guaranteed. As discussed, we do not warranty horizontal or previously peeling surfaces (you receive this documentation with the estimate) but we were willing to take care of it until you done it yourself. This issue is beyond our control. We have made several attempts to try and resolve this situation with you, however, it does not appear we will be able to agree on a final resolution. There will not be any form of refund since we have completed the project as stated per the approved estimate. Thank you!
