My house is less than a year old, and I started having issues with the septic system backing up into my shower and the toilets not flushing. Water was bubbling up in the backyard. The Builders Group blamed it on my irrigation system, but two different septic companies told me the irrigation had nothing to do with it. I had to take care of the septic system myself by halving it pumped and digging to find the problem is duct tape wrapped around field lines and garbage bags wrapped around and stuffed into the septic pipes. Unbelievable. The issue stems from shoddy workmanship and this should not have happened with a house less than a year old. The Builders Group also refused to give me the original septic installers info. I got his name from the health department and it is ***** *****, but I cant find him on ****** and do not know how to contact him. ***** ****** has been extremely arrogant, insulting and super insensitive and unprofessional in this whole ordeal.

    Ms. *****,

I will post publicly the same thing that I told you privately.  You hired a third party to perform work on your home during the warranty period.  This third party installed a sprinkler system surrounding and over the top of certain components of your installed, certified, and approved septic system.  Additionally, you or your subcontractor dug a hole and planted a tree in the middle of the septic field.  The yard and grass in the area of the septic field also suffers from severe lack of maintenance. The issues you are experiencing could definitely be because of those actions.  Additionally, the subcontractor that installed the system for our company offered to uncover the affected area and repair any areas that he was responsible for, with the condition that if he found the issues to be due to your actions that you would pay him for his time.  It is unknown if you took advantage of this offer to cure.  Sounds like maybe you did not.

I am sorry that you are having an issue, and I am sorry that you are taking my conversations with you as arrogance, insult, or unprofessional.  I have simply tried to advise you of the responsibilities you have as a homeowner, and things you have done since we closed that may have been causing the issues you are experiencing.

In my opinion, the original installer offering you an opportunity to let him correct any issues that may be his responsibility, with the caveat that you pay him for any that are not, is completely reasonable.

I reject this response because they have refused to provide the original installers contact information. I got the name, ***** ****, from the health department but have no way to contact him. Also, I had to call my own septic system company because this was an emergency as septic material was backing up into my shower when my tub drained. The Builders Group waited two weeks before giving me a response on this issue and led me to believe it would be covered under warranty. In the meantime, it became an emergency situation with no working toilets so I had to call a septic company to help me. The septic company that came out found the problem due to improper installation and found duct tape wrapped around the septic lines and garbage bags stuffed in the septic field lines. Duct tape and garbage bags are not a proper way to install a field line or keep it from leaking and this had to be a known issue that the builder tried to conceal and obviously knew about before the field liens were buried.

    Thanks so much!

I rent a home owned by the real estate group **** *******, **** The Builders Group, against whom I am filing this complaint, is not a company I have had any direct contact with. I assume they are connected in some way to my leasing company. On Monday, September 23 of this year, I received an email from ***** ******, partner and CEO of The Builders Group. The email was titled "A Message from your Landlord: Your VOTE on Tuesday, September 24th matters". The email read as follows:***** ****** <********************************************************************************************************>Sep 23, 2024, 12:29PM to ***** Dear Tenant: On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, registered citizens of the City of ********** will vote yes or no on an 11.5 mill increase on property taxes, which equates to a 22% tax increase. Property taxes are one of many factors that affect the amount of rent you pay, and we feel it is our obligation to notify you that an increase in taxes means an increase in rent. Please go VOTE on Tuesday. A YES vote is a vote for higher rents. A NO vote is to protect the affordability of housing in our community. Have a great day and please go vote.(end email transcript)I believe this constitutes an attempt to intimidate myself, and an unknown number of other local tenants, to vote against a proposed property tax increase that would fund public schools. This email is threatening me with monetary penalties based on my vote. I will also be filing voter fraud complaints with the Alabama Secretary of *************** as well as a civil rights complaint against the *********************. My purpose in this email is to inform the BBB of the Builders Group, and especially its CEO ***** ******** unprofessional, unsolicited, and possibly criminal behavior. Thank you.
