Downy moving treated us so well! I loved having movers and they treated my things great nothing was lost or broken and it didnt cost me a second mortgage. If I ever have to move again I know who I will be using!

I would absolutely love to make a recommendation regarding Downey’s moving company in Conway—primarily that no one ever use them again. Sorry, shady, and dishonest as anyone I have ever dealt with.
We negotiated with these people for two weeks: they were to come today, pack whatever was left, leave tonight(Monday), DRIVE THROUGH THE NIGHT (this was emphasized more than once BY THEM), meet us in Indiana and unload the truck tomorrow (Tuesday).
This was all coordinated with great attention to detail on our end because a) we’re moving out of state and b)we’re movin out of state with small children. Also we knew it was Thanksgiving week so we were very specific about needs and expections.
They show up today and stated they were never supposed to pack any boxes, telling us in the next breath how the owner told them to remove the empty packing boxes off the truck before they came to our house. My husband negotiated *again*, raising the price to get done what we were initially quoted. Whatever. At this point of course they knew we had to get out of our house by Tuesday at noon, so they had us where they wanted us.
They finally get there, spend 5 hours (including their half hour lunch break) and then proceed to tell us that they can’t be in Indiana until…wait for it…SATURDAY. Because they put another load of someone’s stuff on the same truck and planned to drop it off on Friday in Missouri. After charging us an additional !!!$1700!!! For 5 hours worth of work they were supposed to do as part of the initial cost/quote.
The owner was completely unprofessional, referring to my husband as “son” multiple times and eventually telling him that he doesn’t wanna deal with “people like us.”
      People who want to move?
So do this guy a favor and make sure he doesn’t have to deal with people who want to move, I guess. Seems like a pretty poor business model for a moving company, but a great one for someone who wants to rip you off.

We would like to start with the fact that this move had been booked with our company since the beginning of October not just 2 weeks ago. We were first contacted by Mr. S****** on 9/22/2023 and sent our surveyor to the residence to complete an estimate on 9/25/2023. Once that was completed we provided the estimate for the move from Conway to Carmel Indiana to Mr. S******. He called back within a few days and stated that he really wanted to move with us but was wondering if we could negotiate a Flat Rate for the move. The estimate we had provided to him was $10,909.35 and included us packing the loose household items. Mr. S****** asked if we could get the cost of the move down to around $8500.00. Mr. D***** agreed to that if the S******’s did their own packing of all loose household items and we would pack the flat screen tv’s and mattresses. Mr. S****** asked if we could load this on 11/20/2023 and deliver on 11/21/2023 stating that way our driver could be home in time for Thanksgiving. Mr. D***** checked with the driver and we agreed to this. Mr. S****** called a few times over the next few weeks and confirmed that they were to do all of the packing and also to confirm the delivery.
On the morning of 11/20/23 our crew arrived and found that the S******’s had not completed hardly any of the packing that they were supposed to have done. Our crew leader estimated that it would take most of the day for our crew of 4 to get it packed. By 8 am our office was reaching out to Mr. S****** and advised that the packing was not completed and we would have to come up with a new plan since it would be impossible to pack everything and load the trailer in one day. We would need 1 day to pack, 1 day to load and figure out a new delivery date. There were numerous phone calls back and forth (mostly due to Mr. S****** hanging up on Mr. D***** or not answering our phone calls) over the next 2 hours until we worked out an agreement for the packing. During this 2 hour time may I point out that we had a crew sitting there waiting to know what to do and they were on the clock the entire time as they are paid hourly. Our crew finally got started on the packing and we thought that everything was worked out to Pack 11/20 – load 11/21 and we would have to deliver after Thanksgiving now so that our driver could be home for the holiday. Sometime after lunch Mr. S****** called our office to inform us that he had found other movers and we would no longer be moving him to Indiana. There had been numerous phone calls back and forth most of the day between Mr. S****** and Mr. D***** which was causing some frustration. Mr. S****** had stated at one point that he was leaving for Indiana on Monday night and there would not be anyone there for us to load this on Tuesday. When asked how we would load this if no one would be there he stated he would just leave the house unlocked all night and we could go in the next morning. Mr. D***** informed him that we “Do not do business like that” and as stated on our Member’s Responsibilities checklist that Mr. S****** signed and was given a copy of “Someone is to be present the entire time we are there to load”. At no time was the statement “we don’t wanna deal with people like us” made. Even after Mr. S****** informed us that he would not be using our company to move him we completed the packing for him. He chose not to inform us of this until sometime in the afternoon and we had already reworked our schedule for the next day to get this loaded.
Since when is it a “rip off” to charge someone for the services provided. Mr. S****** decided that we were no longer moving them. The only services we would be providing was the packing and we charged $1700.00 for those services. If you add these packing fees and flat rate of $8500 – it still comes out $700 less than our original estimate provided to the S******’s. So we are confused on how we ripped them off. The S******’s did not keep their end of our agreement and we offered options to try and find an agreeable solution to this situation but the S******’s chose to use another company to complete their move.
