My puppy was marked as spayed on Petfinder. I asked Kim if that was true as she was only 4 months old. She stated yes & she had all shots. All My question's remained unanswered until her drop off week. It was cancelled. I paid $800. For her 2 wks prior to hold her as Kim required. I drove 7 hours each way. My puppy was smelly, underweight, and had worms & double ear infections. NO records of vaccines so I had to delay her training class. Diarrhea for a month. Her rabies vaccine looked odd so I called that vet & phone disconnected & website unavailable. Puppy is now in heat. I wasn't offered a transportation fee back. Something is way off about this "rescue".

I would not give this organization any stars. They barely communicated with me. I was told that the dog’s medical needs were taken care of.
I adopted a malnourished dog with internal parasites, ear mites, scabies and bad gut bacteria causing diarrhea. She also required dental care within a week of adopting her. Over and above the money I gave to Second Chance Rescue of Hardy to adopt this poor dog; I have spent $1500.00 to address her medical needs.
I feel that I rescued my dog from its rescuer. Unforgivable.

This rescue is not a good choice if you're looking for an organization genuinely committed to the welfare of dogs - or a pleasant experience as an adopter. Please research alternatives (there are plenty). Find a rescue that you can visit or that works with fosters.
Most troubling is the fact that Second Chance Rescue sources the majority of their young dogs directly from breeder. They are not at all transparent about this fact. Saving a few dogs from being discarded by breeders is acceptable, but providing a constant/reliable source of business to breeders feeds the industry that this rescue claims to be against.
As an adopter, you can expect exceptionally poor communication from this rescue. They don't provide accurate (or even human written) description of dogs - and won't answer basic questions about their backgrounds. They won't provide photos/videos/updates on the dogs before you receive the animal. Many adopters from this rescue have shared stories of undescribed behavioral/health issues - and even massive underestimation of dog ages.
Their stretched resources and profit-driven approach jeopardize the well-being of the dogs they claim to help. At best, they are irresponsibly thin-stretched; at worst, they prioritize financial gains over the lives of innocent animals. If you do decide to adopt from this rescue, at least demand to see photos/videos of where they dog is being kept as well as how the dog was acquired.

DO NOT RESCUE FROM HERE! we paid $600 dollars for our 8month old goldendoodle who was rescued from a puppy mill. We drive down to AR to pick up our sweet baby and our boy is matted, malnourished and 1 year. she said he was afraid to walk on the leash turns out his boys were so weak he wasnt able to. we took him to vet and he had yeast infection, double ear infections, matted so bad he had sores all over his body and weighed 30 LBS! his age and breed should be 75 pounds,. as a rescue she did not care which means she has done this before! DO NOT RESCUE OR BUY FROM HER!

During the phone screen when we discussed my lifestyle, rescue agreed dog would be a great fit. Pressured to send money right away because they needed to go to an auction and save more dogs, although she did say "are you sure?" a couple of times.
Once they had my money, they stopped communicating with me via text and the voicemail box was always full. I didn't receive any contact until I posted on their FaceBook page that they were not communicating. I received a text with an excuse and nothing more. I only heard from them with a form-letter text with pickup information.
When I picked up the dog it was late, so I was anxious to get home. After I got home, the dog I received looked like the photo, but the personality description was a complete lie. Dog had also been neglected - dirty, ear infection, matted, dermatitis, tartar & gingivitis. Was extremely skittish.
Vet certification and rabies certificate appear to be false. Looking closely, the vaccine batch says it expired in 2016 and when I called the number on the form, it has been disconnected.
Rescue will not respond to follow up emails, texts, and voicemail is full. Their contract insists you return the dog to them, but they do not respond. Multiple clients have experienced the same, in some cases the animals were severely neglected, and many of us have submitted complaints to the AR Attorney General.

Second Chance Rescue of Hardy posts generic AI generated descriptions of our dogs that don't represent their actual behavior or needs. Once money is exchanged, the rescue doesn't care about the dogs or the adopters.
