This location copied and retained my drivers licenses for a car battery purchase. I was told by Batteries Plus corporate office that it is NOT their policy to copy and retain drivers licenses to purchase a car battery. I called to speak with the store manager at 801 S Bowman Rd. The employee who helped me yesterday (and today over the phone), would not tell me if they copy and retain driver's licenses for all car battery purchases. I asked him several times to "simply answer yes or no", but he refused to answer my question. Derek ********, who identified himself as the store manager, slammed the phone down on me and hung-up. He would not tell me that they retain copies of driver's licenses for all car battery purchases. If they do go against corporate policy and retain DL's, why didn't he answer my question, instead of slamming the phone down and hanging up on me.
This purchase was placed and paid for online on 12/2/24, and I simply went to pick it up. They did not install it in my car, so I was expecting a quick trip to Batteries Plus to pick up the order. When I arrived, they took my driver's licenses and made a copy. They told me it would take a while, even though the battery that I had purchased was sitting on the counter ready to go. I am permanently disabled and have chronic pain, so they told me I would be there a while and pulled around chair. This should have been a quick in-and-out transaction because it was already paid for online and waiting for pick-up, but they made me wait about 15 minutes. I am not sure why. I was the only customer in the store.
I would like to know why Derek retained a copy of my DL's and why he would not answer my question when asked if this is something they do for every car battery purchase. This is when he slammed the phone down and hung-up on me. I am concerned that my personal information will not be secured properly and the fact that corporate told me this is not their policy. I should be treated as every other customer.
