      On 10/30/23 my husband ******* ********, who I was separated from, committed suicide. We have 3 small children. I live in Oklahoma and had to drive into Benton AR. By the time I arrived, the police already had him at the morgue. The corner’s office in saline county told me they took him to Arkansas Cremation after they processed his body. I contacted them and spoke to *** ******. She said his sister lied on the paperwork and said she was next of kin. Then she told me she would email me a death certificate and the paperwork so I could be involved with the process and have his ashes for the kids. She emailed only the death certificate and I never heard back. I checked with them last week and they told me he was already burned and picked up. I emailed *** and she said she passed the information onto the director up there that they needed to stop the process and get forms to me. She said she would give my information to a case worker since they didn’t do anything right. Now I’m in a position where I’m having to beg his mom for some of the ashes for the kids.

      Widow told me on the phone that she was ok with his family making arrangements. She never stated that she wanted any of the ashes or we would have been able to accommodate that. By the time she called again, the deceased had already been cremated. I only answer phones and help with case paperwork in the background. The family was not forthcoming with information. We are certainly grieved for the family but it was a chaotic situation with many people involved and giving different stories to us.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      I was told I would receive paperwork and a phone call to proceed with the cremation process.  The funeral home was made aware that his family lied about who was next of kin as soon as I found out where he was.  They had not cremated him yet when I originally talked to them.  I was told this happens a lot and that they would stop working with his family and send me the proper forms.
