I was paying off a student loan to CRI. I currently have like 7 small individual loans of varying amounts. I wanted to pay off one of these to eliminate it, as it had a high interest rate, and slowly work on the others. I paid this loan online, at or around the day of 5/12/2025. We typed in the amount that was stated as the total balance due for that loan, not the balance due for that month, but the total amount for that one loan. It was stated to be $1893.34, so that's what we paid on 5/12/2025. Later, we found that the loan was still active, for the amount of $1.00! When we called CRI, we were told that the loans accrue interest per day, even when waiting on a transaction to be processed. They also said that when a loan is paid in full, then they would waive any interest accrued while the payment was being processed.

Yet we still had $1.00 left on our account for that specific loan (loan's name for my account was **** **, my account number with CRI is ***********. And their customer support told us they couldn't waive the $1.00 until we paid it.

They stated that this happens also even if we had set up an auto-payment method.

I've never had to deal with accrued interest AFTER submitting a payment for other loan companies (e.g. ****** ***), bank loan payments, nor credit card bill payments. All other companies I've had to work/pay with have respected the amount that was stated to be due on the day that I submitted payment.

And my payment was done via direct pay from a bank account. It doesn't get any quicker than that, especially when paying online. Yet CRI said it takes them 3-5 days for the payment to process, and any interest accrued stays on the account.

They said they'd waive it after we pay it, but why is that even necessary?? It seems shady, and why can't they just waive it now when even their records showed that the amount left on the **** ** was from interest accrued only during the payment's processing, not before 5/12/2025 when I submitted it.
