    In July 2022, we experienced a distressing situation when sewage backed up into our home. Initially, we reached out to our builder, acknowledging that the issue was not necessarily their fault. However, in December of the same year, we encountered a recurrence of the sewage backup. At the builder's instruction, we had the sewer line scoped, revealing a probable blockage.

    Despite promptly sharing these findings with our builder via email, we received no response. Consequently, we endured the arduous task of manually pumping raw sewage from our cleanout. Eventually, we engaged the services of a plumber, who uncovered a split drain pipe sunk six inches below the other piece. The plumber suggested that inadequate sediment placement during installation might have contributed to the pipe's failure.

    Regrettably, our attempts to address the issue with the builder were met with denial of responsibility. Furthermore, their refusal to address outstanding items on our home warranty punch list compounded our frustration. The restrictive terms of the home warranty made it challenging to address routine settling and non-wear-related repairs.

    Throughout this ordeal, the builder's responses have been characterized by rudeness and unprofessionalism, further exacerbating an already challenging situation.
