The Benton County sheriff pulled over a tractor and trailer for a suspected stolen trailer. The trailer had been previously stolen, but recovered, but the police were not informed that it had been recovered. That was not the problem, but leads to this note. They arrested the driver and had the tractor and trailer towed which happened to be a Ryder trailer. Jim Erwin Wrecker Service towed it to their lot. I got a phone call after it happened and we got the driver released and went to get tractor and trailer and they wanted $3700 cash to release it. Sounds like a scam between police and wrecker service. I have Ryder units towed all the time, and this amount is not the norm. I can usually tow a truck almost a thousand miles for that cost. I just think everyone needs to know this wrecker service should not be used. They charged 500 an hour for each of the tractor and trailer which is ridiculous. Then clerical fees and Pea Ridge tax......never heard of this for the 45 years I have been in the trucking industry. Just felt the need to let someone know.
