    Our neighborhood was hit by the Tornado May 8, 2024. Tress were down in my yard and street. Urban Jack showed up unsolicited by me and offered clean up help and tree removal. The Urban Jack crew did work for a few hours cutting the tree tops off my roof, but not removing the tree trunks or root balls. I called and texted for weeks asking when the work was to be completed. To finish the job and initiate repairs to my house, I had to hire an excavactor ($3000) and another tree service ($1500) to complete the job that Urban Jack promised to do intially. After getting the other contractors to complete the work ($4500), The Urban Jack crew comes and removes the last remaining tree trunk and one root ball. The invoice from Urban Jack was $8200 for the few hours of work they did. I feel like I was taken advantage of by Urban Jack after a devastating storm. They did not perform the work as promised, And have way overcharged.

    Attached is a signed copy of our rates quote with minimum hours and rates.  The equipment is used for damage mitigation so the scope of the project was to clear your yard for equipment access and remove trees from structures.  We billed for only equipment used and at the minimum agreed upon rates but we also provided you with other services at no additional cost.  This includes:

    - hauling large root balls in excess of 12,000 pounds (equipment used but not billed for:  20,000 lb excavator, Air Spade, 70 yard rear mount grapple truck)

    - Stump grinding a large red oak root ball in the back yard

    - Removing a large dead pine tree from the side of your home and hauling it away.

    Your neighborhood was hit by a tornado, we cleared your streets and yards the day we were able to get street access.  Your neighbors had tree currently on their homes that need immediate attention and i explained that we will be back to help you with the non emergent issues afterwards most of which would not be paid for by insurance (stump grinding and debris hauling in excess of $500).  We worked 18 hour days helping to restore your neighborhood and returned to assist you with work that we did not bill for.  If you think my company pricing is too high then please research the cost and insurance on the following equipment:

    Manitex 50128 50 ton crane

    72' cmc arborpro spider lift

    CAT 299 D3 landmanagement skid steer

    AVANT 528 articulated loader

    pk40 palfinger knuckleboom

    75 yard rear mount grapple truck

    CAT 308 excavator.

     

    that is over a million dollars in equipment that is designed for large scale storm damage.  It is unfair to put our prices again two guys who own an old excavator or a small company that has one employee and a dump trailer.  Our insurance is extremely high for utr business and our equipment. I have prices and rates for my employees on hazard pay that pay for the overhead and provide a profit to the company.  I'm transparent with those rates and you agreed to them.  If you had a pricing dispute on what our company time costs we could have worked it out before we started.  I'm sorry you are unhappy with the bill but our pricing is market witih other companies in the area with similar equipment, i can respond with comparables pulled from clarity market if you would like.
