I took my truck in to have a power steering hose that was leaking and had been patched to be replaced. I brought a hose with me that I had ordered knowing that it didn’t seem to be the correct hose. I told them it was fine to get one at Autozone if it was not correct. When I came to get the truck they charged me over twice what the hose cost at Autozone. When I asked about that their reply was “we have to keep the Doors open and add $25 to it. The part would have been between $31-$38 if I would have went to Autozone and bought it myself but they charged me $74.99 so the math didn’t add up. Then I noticed that they charged another $65 Diagnostic fee to hook up the computer to figure out the hose that was patched and I told them was bad and leaking was the problem. I have used them for years and thought I could trust them but something has changed so you better get a price upfront. I will not make this mistake again.

The customer came in on October 13, 2023 with a request to replace a power steering hose he had purchased for his vehicle. He advised us at the time that the hose he supplied may not be the correct one and asked us to get the correct one. Due to the amount of fluid that was leaking, we had to clean up the area and inspect to define which hose was leaking. Our charge was .75 hours to diagnose. This time also included clean up and test drive after job was complete.
We found that the pressure hose was leaking and the customer supplied hose was incorrect. We purchase the correct hose and mark up per our standard pricing. Our pricing is at or below standard industry mark up. This helps to cover cost of general overhead including Service Writers time, and consumable supplies.
The labor to install the hose was 1.25 hours per our technician service guide system. And we replaced the power steering fluid as required.
We regret that the customer was not happy about the cost. We strive to make sure our customers are satisfied with the work provide and cost of repairs.
