Charged for services that should have been covered under my insurance. Claim not filed as preventative care which is should have been. The service was in Jan. **** failed to file it in time and to code it correctly. There are multiple online reviews of the same instance happening, billing office refuses to resubmit claim under correct billing code to my insurance.Business Response
Date: 07/08/2025
Both dates of service were coded and billed correctly. The patient had two separate visitsone for her preventative exam and another for a follow-up.
The patient was seen on 01/02/25 for her annual preventative exam. During this visit, her routine labs and Pap smear were completed. She also discussed her family medical history and concerns about irregular periods, all of which fall under the scope of a preventative visit. The provider ordered a follow-up ultrasound to be completed in one week. The following codes were billed:
99385 (Preventative exam)
99214 (Office visit)
81025 (Urinalysis)
The claim was submitted to insurance, processed, and denied;however, no patient responsibility was assigned.
The patient returned on 01/09/25, exactly seven days later, for the scheduled follow-up. This visit was not a continuation of the preventative visit, but rather a separate diagnostic appointment for the ultrasound ordered based on the concerns discussed on 01/02/25. Per the progress notes, the ultrasound was performed to evaluate the patients irregular periods. The patient was not evaluated by the provider at this visitshe was seen solely for the ultrasound.
The three ultrasounds were coded and billed correctly. The claim was processed by insurance, and the deductible applied was based on the patients plan and insurance policy guidelines.
MomDoc billed accurately for the services rendered, on the dates they were rendered.Initial Complaint

I have not lived in ******* for over 4 years now, but consistently get text messages about a MomDoc balance owed of $10. I paid it once because I thought it was my new OBGYN in my new home state. The texts never stopped. This is a scam that continues to attempt to collect money that isnt owed.Initial Complaint

Seen in office on 08%24/2024 . One of my test came back positive for infection. On Wednesday tried calling office to get prescription and was told I needed to come in to be seen. Not sure why when the provider herself told me no need if test came back positive they would call a prescription. Therefore, mo prescription was released until I did speak to provider on 8/29 @nd was told she was going to send prescription. This conversation was at 1pm. I went to pharmacy at 3pm they had not received it. So I called office and was told they did send it and I was telling person on the phone I'm here at pharmacy they do not have it. So they said we'll it's there we will send again. So I went back to pharmacy at 4:30 pm and still no prescription was sent. I couldn't wait no more I had to leave town for work. I called the mom doc office again this was my 4th call for thr day and was told I could not talk to the provider of office manager. I asked if they could send rx to ******. And was told to hold which I was holding for 17 minutes and they hung up on me. I'm completely uncomfortable from this infection and not getting the proper medical care I need. I called again at 9am on 8/30 and was told they would send an email.Initial Complaint

I got a bill in the mail for $99.52 for a well women check up. when I called the biling office they said it was because I brought up "treatment" for PCOS. I went in for a well women check up which is 100% covered by insurance. When you go in for a well women they ask a serious of questions before the check up. (pap) I was asked when my last period was and how long it was. When I gave my answer the doctor was concerned because I had long menstrual cycle and I told her it was due to PCOS. The doctor asked me If i wanted to be treated for PCOS and my response was "I am already being treated for my PCOS by my primary care doctor " the doctor responded that if i change my mind or want the them to treat me for it they are available. I see this as unethical as i have to answer the questions and didnt ask for treatment they offered it which i kindly declined. I asked to speak to a manager about this billing issue & have not heard from a manager, they are always busy or take return my calls.Initial Complaint

First of all, I am a doctor and was reviving care here. After my first visit I received results + for trichomonal infection was obviously concerned. Upon closer look, the order date was not a date I had any vaginal or urine sample collected, and the ordering provider was also a provider I had never seen. I voiced concern that there was a mix up, and they dismissed me and wanted me to start medication.I went to urgent care and retested and results were negative.Im concerned about their practices. Please dont go hereInitial Complaint

I am having to routinely fight with the MomDoc's billing department to get an accurate accounting of my dollar amount owed for services. They consistently attempt to collect far more money than what I actually owe, and if I were not to question the bill amount then I'd be paying thousands of dollars more than what I should be. The billing department continually goes against the companies own "Notice of Patient Rights" policy constantly refusing to provide accurate billing and for using manipulative tactics by withholding billing information hostage until money is paid but refusing to supply a complete billing breakdown. Within MomDoc's "Notice of Patient Rights" it reads: - Receive considerate and respectful care and ensure that care is provided in a safe environment, free from all forms of abuse, harassment or discrimination, neglect, coercion and manipulation. MomDoc's personnel members and providers will not misuse your personal and private property. (Notice of Patient Rights, p. 2, bullet point 1) - An itemized and detailed explanation of your complete medical bill. (Notice of Patient Rights, p. 2, bullet point 13)MomDoc also advertises evening/weekend appointments, but charges more if this service is used. However, nowhere on the company's site does it say that there will be an extra charge for evening/weekend appointments. Additionally, I am a high-risk pregnancy and being monitored for high blood pressure. Due to the back-and-forth nature of having to deal with ongoing billing issues, I have had to take the remainder of my workday off for self-care due to my blood pressure spiking. Although I've not used a lot of time, I've been banking as much PTO as possible to use towards my maternity leave and I've now had to dip into what little PTO I have to address my medical situation to avoid the very real potential for physiological danger to myself and/or my unborn baby as a direct result of dealing with MomDoc's billing department and practices.Initial Complaint

I went for a routine preventative well woman exam to MomDoc at the end of December 2023 I made it clear that I was there only for preventative services I never received test results - I had to call them 1-2 mos later to find out what the results were! 2 mos later I received a text that payment was owed I called the office to request a copy of an itemized bill with detailed charges and billing codes, as I never received the initial invoice. I asked them to send it to my new address When I spoke to the medical billing person, they said the bill was for a mammogram (which I had done on my own the day before the visit - so they had no involvement whatsoever) and during the initial intake, they did a detailed history intake - although questions were asked, there was no work up or treatment involved for the billed item - it was just a brief by the way! The medical billing person said he would mail it again - but I never received it. I also asked to speak to the billing manager as I suspected upbilling on their office's part and therefore no payment was due accordingly. The following 2 months, I once again received texts - requesting payment - I called again - asking them for an itemized bill with detailed charges. I asked them both to send them to me via e-mail and US mail - which they did not! I confirmed that they had the correct new address. Since then, I have received monthly texts asking for payment. I once again called them but it directly went to voicemail.I have tried to resolve this issue directly with the office but it has fallen on deaf ears. I refuse to pay what I believe are fraudulent charges I would appreciate some help as to how to proceed with this nextInitial Complaint

I am looking to see if a complaint would be of any help. I sought medical treat at an OBG office, my first time going. It was for a yearly check up and re do of birth control. That was all I wanted. I answered the doctors questions and apparently that made it into a different visit and I am being charged way above for the visit. They said it was considered two different issues. All I did was answer questions from my doctor who knew what kind of visit I was there for. If I would have been told answering those questions changed the visit I would have declined. Now no one from the office will call me and when I call I can never reach anyone. They also refuse to mail me am actual bill. I am not sure what do to, to get a response to figure this out. They also keep telling me my bill is 70$ but the one texted screenshot I got said 67$. So trying to up charge me as well on top of everything else. Help is greatly appreciatedInitial Complaint

I tried to contact MomDoc to try to resolve this issue firsthand, but was told that they could not give me any contact information and wouldnt let me speak to anyone about a concern I have of the care I have received recently. This is why I am choosing this method to give them an opportunity to hear my concern. I have been a patient of MomDoc for over 13 years. MomDoc used to be great but now I cant trust them with my care. Im not sure what happened with their practice but they have different priorities now that do not include quality patient care. They failed to diagnose me with a condition after I went to them multiple times with symptoms that indicated this condition. It wasnt until I saw another gynecologist that they immediately were able to identify the problem of which is precancerous. They need to have better standards of care for all of their patients. I would love to share more about my story and Im hopeful that they will try to contact me so I can give more details. My hope is also that they will reconsider their current standards of practice and will make some changes to improve overall customer service and quality of care.
