December 8, 2022 we signed a contract with ** ***** for an addition to be added to our home for mother in law. Job was to be completed 6/8/2023. Deposit of $50,000 was issued to start job, permits were obtained by February 6, 2023 to break ground. Job was to be completed in three phases. Phase one completed no problem payment was submitted to ** ***** $28,373. Phase two demeaner of ******* ***** changed and we noticed stall in project. Framing was barely completed on 6/8/2023 when project was supposed to be complete by this date. ******* asked for an advance of $28,373 due to mismanagement of funds. Project was again stalled no workers were on job site no communication was made from General Contractor to property owner. After 7 weeks we were told issue was with electrical part of plans. Issue was resolved but project was still delayed. Project is still in framing stage at this time it's September 2023. It rains and we have a leak in our home due to damages from the project. Owner brought issue up to contractor and in Oct 2023 roofing went up. However job was not completed professionally and we still have water damages and leaks when it rains. Mold has developed and area has never been dried out by General Contractor. December 2023 ******* explained he mismanaged funds and had no more money to complete job at this point drywall was barely installed. Second contract was for owners to pay subcontractor directly not to exceed $28,000 to complete remaining job by 1/31/2024. Owners paid sub-contractor remaining balance due and General Contractor was to honor original contract with HVAC unit for addition and materials to relocate property owners original HVAC unit. House was to be painted and Certification of Occupancy was to be obtained. No communication verbal or written from the General Contractor has been provided on when remaining job will be finished. Roof needs to be repaired, HVAC for addition installed, HVAC of owners reconnected, damages repaired and cert of Occupancy.
