I contacted Pygmy Guides to schedule a tour of the ************ with overnight stay in the park. We spoke on the phone on 2/24/24. He was going to see what permits were still available. He called back on 2/25/24, and indicated that the ****** trip was available. I paid the 50% deposit of $1366.08. I sent him the hiker information and we spoke on the phone/texted to confirm the trip details on 2/25, 3/13, 3/20, & 3/23. I paid the other portion of the trip on 3/20/24 of $1366.08, for a total of $2732.16 for 4 hikers/tour and overnight stay in the ************. We set arrangements to meet at the General Store at 9 AM on 3/24/24, to hike down the ************. He was to provide tents, ***************, overnight permit, and all tools needed. We were both traveling from ********* to the ************ (1.5 hr drive). With the snow, I called at 7:09 AM. He called me right back at 7:11AM. I asked to have a little later start and he agreed as he was running behind as well. He indicated that if we were hiking by 12 pm, we would be good. He told me to call him back when I was ready. I called back at 8:02 AM, 8:10 AM and 8:21 AM. He did not answer. I texted him at 8:03, 9:17, and 9:59. He did not respond. I even had my daughter and significant other try to reach him. No response. The next day, he texted me at 10:05 AM saying he just got the messages. He said the trail head was closed. He did not offer to salvage anything of the hike like converting it from an overnight to a day trip or offer a refund. He told my significant other a different story. One that his nephew went to the *** Then another that he did drive to the ************ and that he pulled cars from the ditch. That we did not want to be hiking in that weather. My entire trip to ******* from **** was to hike the ************. He would not respond to my phone calls or texts and did not offer anything but 50% back. I had to change my plans quickly to try and salvage something for my kids.
