Discount Air performed a spring AC inspection. We have two ************* a 2022 and a 2007. Both were fully operational prior to the visit. After the inspection, the older unit was declared inoperable, and the newer one was left disconnected and not cooling.Technicians ***** and ***** asked me to lower both thermostats. Both responded properly. ***** replaced a dirty filter at the newer unit, noted clean coils, and tested the older handler - offering to replace a part for $80. Contradicting his later claims that the older system was entirely nonfunctional. ***** stayed at the breaker panel for over 30 minutes without tools, performing unknown actions.Later, I was told the older unit had blown up and shown a photo of wires. I was not taken to inspect, and the part was removed without notice or consent. I was then quoted $12,300 for a replacement, with no SEER rating or model info. When I requested diagnostic records, I was told they'd cost extra.Discount Air then claimed the older system had never worked citing dirty filters (from the other system) and claimed it was physically impossible for them to cause any damage a deflective and inaccurate statement. After their visit, the newer AC unit stopped cooling, and multiple appliances including our dryer and water heater lost power. A second licensed HVAC technician found the newer units kill switch wiring had been manually disconnected. Our solar provider confirmed that cycling breakers under load can destabilize high-draw systems and cause failures, especially on older HVAC units.Other issues include: (1) unauthorized removal of parts, (2) no written diagnostics, (3) an undisclosed fourth technician, and (4) attic work not shown on the invoice. We believe Discount Air misrepresented system status, failed to follow proper procedures, removed property without consent, and used pressure-based sales tactics. We request investigation, a refund of fees paid, and accountability for damages.
