      We had previously used Mr. ********************** to perform some plumbing and construction work in 2018. At that time, we found Mr. ********************** to be very friendly and agreeable to do the work we requested. This was done in a very informal manner (no contract or written estimates) because the work was in relation to a remodeling project and we weren't sure exactly what work we needed done. He performed all work well and we were pleased with it. One complaint was the work that he performed in fixing a jacuzzi tub that had a leak. He had difficulty finding necessary parts since it was an older tub. Without letting us know at any time how much this work was going to cost us, he continued taking time to perform it. When he was done, we were very surprised when he charged us a flat $1000! He didn't provide any documentation as to the basis of that charge. We paid it. I would give him 3 stars for all the work on these jobs.This year (2022), we again had some plumbing and repairs. Since we considered Mr. ********************** almost a friend, we contacted him. Before he started, we asked for written estimates. He said he would give one. However since we needed a new water heater and a platform to support it quickly, he started without giving us the estimate. Because we were on a friendly basis, we let it slide (our mistake!). He said a new water heater would be about $800. We wrote him a $1000 check for the heater and materials. We looked and found a nice heater at ****** for less than $500. We bought it. He rebuilt the platform and installed it. We were pleased with the work. We found other work we needed done - installing some waterproof boards under sinks, installing new faucets in bathrooms, fixing a leaking shower handle.The last thing we needed was concrete work to extend a step off our patio. He and another man worked on it for few days. When done, it looked okay, but he said we owed $3500 for all his work!!! No documentation, just handwritten note!! Job later proved faulty. He would not fix!
