I had Barrier come out to inspect and give a quote on my new build, very communicative and respectful, they provided pictures of some problematic areas and were through with explaining how they would go about each energy saving measure available to me 10/10

Inspected, quoted. Gave quote for square footage of home but as if there was no insulation at all (more or less). It needs 4 -8 inches here and there. Quoted $2500.Sq ft is **** for R-20. I can believe $4-500 to "top off". Would have been thievery to accept quote.

Hey there ***. I appreciate the feedback here. Looking over your inspection notes and reviewing the pictures from the attic I can agree that the bare minimum recommendation/need for this attic space would have been a FULL R-20. It is very rare that as a company our crews simply top off only certain areas of an attic, as with most vented/unsealed attics blown-insulation typically starts to degrade after 5 years when its exposed to airflow/humidity/environmental factors. We believe that companies that simply top off certain areas or bring you up to a specific insulation level vs. installing a new and FULL specd R-Value coverage over the attic space are actually doing the customer a disservice in the sense that the old insulation really isnt performing the way most homeowners think it would still be performing. Most building science experts and home improvement specialists would agree that even new, fresh insulation (besides spray foam) doesnt hold its true R-Value for an extended period of time (as R-value is calculated in a lab setting that is free from any environmental factors or outside constraints). If you would like to have a deeper conversation about the science and mindset behind how we operate with our installs I would be more than happy to speak with you personally and even would be willing to extend some discount to your blown-in service after we speak. Again, I appreciate the input here and we use all input to continually improve our business.
